My boyfriend, our 14 year old son, and I decided to try this place for the first time this past Friday 3/29/24. We walked in around 8:15ish, sat ourselves at a dining table, and our waitress came over and took our order. She gave us our drinks and our mozzarella sticks, which were pretty good. About 50 or so minutes go by, we stood up to play a game of darts (which was right next to our table), and who I believe was the manager, or assistant manager, came over to us and told us that we needed to finish our game and leave because children aren't allowed in there after 9pm. However, they're kitchen was open until 9:45. We had called ahead of time to find that out. My boyfriend told him that's fine, but we're waiting for food. The guy proceeded to walk away, and as he was walking away, he said, "Oh, well, you are going to have to take that to-go then." The waitress was apologetic and claimed she did not know children couldn't be in there past 9pm, otherwise she would have told us. Before the food came out, he went up to the waitress at the bar and asked if they were preparing our food for to-go, and she said yes, and apologized again. My boyfriend told her that we don't want the food to-go and aren't going to pay for it because we did not order it to-go, plus we lived 40 minutes away and the food would not be fresh by the time we got home. I'm sure everyone knows how good food is after it's been sitting in styrofoam containers for so long (sarcasm). He made a smart comment about how the food was almost done and that we could eat it in the car. My boyfriend once again told him no, we aren't paying for this food that we ordered for dine-in because not once did anybody tell us our son couldn't be in there, plus the food won't be fresh. He made another smart comment saying that he can guarantee the food will be hot and fresh. He also tried making the argument that they are a tavern, but if you look it up, there isn't a law stating that adults can't bring their children into bars or taverns, only that they can't sit at the bar, obviously. I understand that businesses have their own rules, but this "rule" is not posted on their website or on the front of their establishment. He ended with saying he won't charge us for the food but we do have to pay for the drinks and mozz sticks, which we planned on paying for anyway. I would have understood and paid for the food if there was a notice of some sort stating no children allowed past 9pm, but because of the fact that there wasn't, and he was very rude and condescending to us throughout the whole ordeal, and trying to think of anything to say to make us pay for it, it ended the way that it did. Instead of trying to figure out another solution, he decided that the better alternative was to lose $40-$60 worth of food. And as I'm thinking about it, we have been to a couple of other bar and grills after 9 and not once were we told that. In the end, it's pretty disappointing because we were looking forward to their food. Also, keep in mind that we never got out of hand and my boyfriend didn't raise his voice. He only spoke in a matter-of-fact tone. Now, I refuse to go back because of how he thought it was acceptable to...
Read moreLoved the Meco Dry rub wings. We are not From around Peoria. We live about two hours away, but we purchased a truck across the street and our sales guy mentioned this bar to eat at before we went home. He said it was wing night so we ordered a variety of wings. My favorite was the Meco because it was crunchy had a good flavor. I’d love to take my boat down to this area just so that I could eat those wings again. The onion rings were tasty and I was head over heals for the Texas Tots. Not what I expected, but they were delicious. Very yummy.
There was a little problem with our check. Since we just wanted to get home because it was a long day, I called them later to ask them about the credit card charge. So into further investigation, the owner figured out there was a mistake between my charge card and the receipt I got. She promptly refunded the amount in question. It was an HONEST HUMAN mistake. My bad for not bringing it to the attention of my server right away. I definitely will return when we are in the neighborhood. Nice neighborhood bar. If I lived in Peoria, I do believe this would be our “go-to” place. Thank you MD for an upstanding business.
No pictures of the food but left a photo of the truck we bought that day across the street...
Read moreI've been her 3 times, first time was ok it was Trivia, not really inviting though. Second had a better time Dan the bartender was great and live music. Third time is where I have a issue. I had a few things that didnt sit well with me, but the one thing I really didn't find OK was the owner talking to a patron/friend at the bar about staff in a bad way. Also This patron/friend was cursing most of the time and normally I can drown that out, but it should have been stopped. However the one word he used at least once was the N word. The full word and I dont care who you are no one should ever say it, especially in a public place that's supposed to be inviting. She didnt stop him then either. It's clear she doesnt see any issue with the vulgar language. I didnt tio well due to this and wil . It be going back, based on this a few other things i witnessed. I've been in customer service and resturant work for at least 10 years. I've never witnessed anything like this as an employee anywhere I've worked or any place I've been a customer. Bad owners isnt good. You never discuss your employees in public like that or allow someone to be...
