Craving something different than our norm, we decided on trying Rudy's today. We went close to 2:00 PM and the restaurant was almost empty. Located in a strip mall, parking was ample and easy to find, the entrance was inviting. The interior decor was not overly lavish like you normally would find at restaurants, which was nice for a change. Our waitress was great, not once asked how our food was or if we needed anything while we had a mouthful. Her timing was impeccable and she genuinely cared about our experience. Chips and salsa was provided when we were sat down. Sals was good, would be better with a little heat. Chips weren't the freshest but were OK. We started with beef and chicken nachos supreme. Not disappointing at all. A hefty serving of shredded chicken on one side, and beef on the other made for a delicious appetizer. We ordered Carnitas and Beef fajitas. Carnitas seemed to be a little overcooked, but all in all not a bad entree. Fajitas on the other had were a little disappointing. Not served on the traditional sizzling platter, but a cold dinner plate. Very little sour cream and guacamole and even less pico de gallo accompanied by a large portion of shredded lettuce next to very little grilled onions and peppers. The sliced beef was dismal and lacking in flavor. 5 stars for our waitress who was on top of things, 5 stars for service, but food was 3 at best. Hence my 4 star review. Pricing was reflective of the food we received. Nothing in my opinion to go out of the way for.

I had the Tacos Guanajuato, Rudy Rolls, Mexican Fried rice and the Chips and Salsa. First off the Chips and Salsa was amazing. So delicious. Thats the best Salsa I've ever had.10/10 2nd the Rudy Rolls was fresh and crispy. The meat on the inside was tasty and moist. The sauce that came with rolls was perfect, sweet a little spicy jus amazing!! 9/10. 3rd The Tacos Guanajuato. I wasn't a big fan of them. The meat was a little dry and the corn tortilla didn't have any flavor. 7/10 Last but not least the Mexican Fried Rice. It was tasty, spicy and there was so much chicken, steak and Shrimp. It was just a little salty but great overall. 9.5/10. I had a taste of the Margaritas and they were deliciously beautiful. Best Margaritas in the game 10/10. Sauce game 8.5/10 Price game 7.5/10 very expensive. Portion game 8/10. Rudy's overall 8.5 great place. My 2nd favorite Mexican restaurant in Peoria. Will come again forsure!!! Shout out to the Servers and Chefs/Cooks.

Small little spot with big taste and great service! Typical Mexican fare that tasted great, big portions, but the service was over and above! Speedy and our waitress checked on us several times. Highly recommend Rudy’s Mexican Catina & Grill

¡Ay, caramba! This place is the REAL DEAL!

I grew up in Chicago - a city you can eat your way across - and am used to authentic ethnic food experiences. So when trying a new place, I like to get a variety of menu items. My wife and I tried them this past weekend and became instant fans; here's what we ordered:

Queso dip - Worth a trip across town or from the surrounding areas for this alone. I regret not getting more as I wanted to cover almost everything I was eating with this goodness.

Fajitas for Two (steak, pork, chicken, shrimp) - This should be relabeled Fajitas for Four, though I won't complain about the leftovers. It was a nice selection of the different proteins available and they all were delicious. Only critique is that there could be 1 or 2 more shells.

Enchiladas (beef and chicken) - Only item that was somewhat of a let-down. Perhaps I had too high expectations by the time I tried these (after the fajitas and queso) but they seemed a bit dry. Not terrible, just not my favorite.

Churros - Simply fantastic. 6 large, bite-sized pieces with a caramel (?) dipping sauce. Had a nice liquid-y glaze. Perfect way to end the meal.

All in all, a great first experience. Glad to see they've been able to weather the pandemic and I hope they are around for...
