Update** Unfortunately I've gotten food poisoning twice after eating at this establishment. The second time was to test if it really did come from there... cooks are serving rotten or perhaps cross contaminated food. Not sure what, but food poisoning is on my list of "3 worst things in life." So will not be returning. Unfortunate considering how great the wait staff was.
Original In reality. I'd say this place deserves 4 stars. There is room for improvement in the food. But the customer service is outstanding which is even rarer so 5-star it is.
Not sure if they try putting their own take on traditional Chinese dishes but every dish is certainly much different than any other Chinese restaurant I've visited in the past. Some better some worse.
The Mongolian beef is certainly one of my favorites and an example of "better than other restaurants" though, they tend to be rather skimpy on the beef part if I'm being honest.
Their fried rice on the other hand.... is the most basic fried rice I've ever had. I'm not sure it even qualifies as fried rice. There is nothing fried about it... it's just plain white rice with soy sauce. There's no shrimp, no baby corns, no peas & carrots.... where is the "fried" in the fried rice?
The egg drop soup is certainly different as well. It is still good, don't get me wrong. But I'd say it's one of the worse egg drops I've had. I'd dare say I prefer my own recipe over this authentic restaurants version. And maybe I'm being biased here, but I'm not a fan of celery in egg drop either. But perhaps mine is the unpopular opinion in the matter.
Even so, the staff is friendly and efficient. They work hard. And i think the best factor is they give you your space, but are aware of their surroundings and are always quick with the refills. I really can't stand a waiter who lingers and tries talking to me while I'm trying to eat. So kudos to each of you on your outstanding professionalism.
It's always a good experience at this establishment. The food is good. The prices are reasonable for the quantity, and the staff is outstanding. A family owned business so stop in and give them a try if you're in the...
Read moreSorry to say they lost a star since my last visit. A very inattentive server never came by to refill water, ask if we needed anything else or if everything was okay after bringing the food, etc. I was glad he and others were wearing masks but all could use some customer service training re: providing a welcoming atmosphere and trying to be helpful. The prices have really shot up since last visit which is a shame since they could've reduced portion size a bit (looking around, most people left much of their entrees since they were more dinner-sized) and kept the reasonable lunch specials prices they had. Think they changed to a 5-spice seasoning in the egg roll which I am not fond of. The oil either needed to be changed for the fried items or left in for less time as they were darker than they should've been. The fried rice was clumpy and seemed reheated via steam or microwave so the grains were not individually covered with oil and separate like fried rice should be. The green beans were fresh and perfectly cooked in with the beef. I still praise them for providing a full course meal starting with the crispy chowmein noodles(not from a can), soup, appetizer, egg roll, entree and egg roll. My friend's Honey Chicken was bland and definitely needed the soy sauce, sriracha, duck sauce(which was way watery).Very nice background music that allowed for conversation and...
Read moreFood is fine. Service is lousy at best... We are new to Phoenix area and looking for real Chinese food. The dishes are reasonably and competitively priced for American-Chinese food. But if you expect service, don't bother. We walked in and no-one gave us a greeting of any kind. After standing at the door for several minutes, we were motioned to pick our own table to sit down. Then a very unprofessional teenage looking kid with unkempt hair took our order. He did not even write down the order. Of course, the order came up wrong, and then we were blamed for not making it clear to him. We ate the food, not half bad, and taste fine for American-Chinese dishes. But wouldn't pass for good authentic Chinese food. We may or may not go back. If we go back, it would be for the reasonable price, and can't find any other decent Chinese restaurant in this new town we moved to; if we don't go back, it would be for the total lack of service and...
