I convinced my wife to forgo our usual Friday dine out spot for a visit to this place based on the advice of a friend. I initially assumed it was a bigger place where we could possibly have table service. We arrived and it was a small step up from a typical counter order, takeout spot with a few more tables and chairs. That's in no way a bad thing, mind you. The place looked nice. We walked in and my youngest daughter was stoked that they had the Japanese soft drinks with a candy ball in the bottle neck. We grabbed one from the cooler and walked up to the counter to spy a menu. One of the two cashiers came over so we let her know that we would be ordering but needed a minute to decide. Instead of walking away, she told us how much the soda cost and just lingered there as if we were gonna make a run for the door with it. That changed my mind from dining in to carry out. After a minute she began acting obviously bothered that we were not deciding fast enough. If I asked her anything, she gave me very short, snappy answers and made audible, obnoxious sighs. I stayed composed but I knew that one more sigh from the cashier was gonna make my wife step in. Noticing the situation, the other cashier stepped in to take over. She was very pleasant and patient with us and we completed our order. When we finally got our food, we were very excited about trying the different sushi, miso soup and other things we ordered because they looked and smelled delicious. We arrived home and dug in... The sushi was supermarket quality at best. Kinda bland but ok. The rice in all dishes seemed a bit undercooked. The shrimp in the tempura roll was definitely undercooked (saw that only after eating almost the whole roll). The ingredients in my wife's teriyaki bowl seemed undercooked, overcooked and a bit burnt at the same time. There was something almost rubbery in it. The miso soup was ok. How can you mess up miso soup? Gave 2 stars because of the soda and nice second cashier. Should really give 1 star because of the first cashier and diarrhea from...
Read moreI was very excited to have a Japanese restaurant open up nearby! Itâs a quick service/counter service restaurant with booths and tables in the room. Itâs in a small square footage space, so it can feel a bit claustrophobic when itâs busy. It was very busy when we arrived (all tables & booths were full, several people in line to order and several people seated to the right waiting on their to-go orders), so we were a little worried about how long the wait for space and food would be. There were three screens of sushi options and one screen of hibachi options above the counter - so there is quite the sushi selection to choose from. I ordered the Philadelphia sushi roll (salmon, cucumber, and cream cheese) and Shrimp/Chicken/Steak Noodle bowl. My husband ordered the Dragon roll and Express Chicken Bowl. It took about 15-20 minutes to get our food (again, it was very busy at the time). The food arrives in plastic containers, so itâs easy to take leftovers home.
My entreeâs meats were a bit dry (particularly the beef), but still tasty (the chicken tasted best of the three meats I had). The noodles were good (they got my toddlerâs seal of approval, too), and the sushi was good (though, I prefer a little more smoked flavor in the salmon in Philly rolls). The white sauce was delicious, and Iâm very prickly about the white/yami-yami/seafood sauces that Japanese places offer.
Overall, it is definitely a place we will visit again when we want counter service Japanese food, and now we have a better idea of what to order...
Read moreItâs currently 9:43pm. I called this restaurant at 9:25and no one answered the phone. I pulled up at 9:35 and my husband went to go inside to order and the door was locked. There were three young girls inside that looked at the door and laughed as he tried to open it. They didnât come to the door to say anything. It was incredibly rude and ridiculous. If your sign says 10 oâclock, why is the phone being ignored at 9:30 and the door locked at 9:37? So I got out of my car, knocked on the door, they all just looked at me and proceeded to laugh and Ignore me. I knock again. Finally, one of the girls walks up to the door and says, âcan I help you?â And I asked why the door was locked and she said, âwere closed. Our kitchen staff works 70hrs a week.â Autumn was her name. I asked for the name of a general manager and she said, âthey donât live around hereâ. She then walked away and laughed with the two other girls yet again. This was an extremely distasteful experience. The way that it was handled was so immature and unprofessional. I felt like I was receiving Mcdonalds type service when you pull up to the drive through and they tell you, âour ice cream machine is down.â And then to laugh, very childish...
