Jalisco Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Perry

I hate to leave a bad review - worst Mexican food.

Ordered for pick up. The front desk person was super nice, and order was fast. That's what the 3 stars is for.

However - the nachos barely had cheese and had no beans. It was ground beef and it was very bland.

The burritos had steak in them per my request. But it was fatty chewy steak. And it's a set of 2 small tortilla burritos instead of 1 big one. Which they say on the menu. But I asked for everything inside and they put the cheese on top of both burritos. It's just odd layout. I would be fine with this if it was delicious - but it seemed thrown together and missing flavor. It was ok.

The steak torta was good but it was mostly bread. Again, steak quality was ok - on the fatty side.

Chips and salsa came with the meal. Chips are typical (didn't taste home made) and salsa was good, prob the best part of the meal.

This place has potential. If they had placed more food in the nachos, or had placed everything inside the burrito. I hope they make some changes. The place seemed empty for a Saturday. For $26 for a meal for two I'd expect better flavors and quality...

Quite honestly, I was shocked at how tasty the food was from Jalisco. I'm not sure what happened to the folks that have left poor reviews, but this restaurant will see me again. My party and I walked in to order take out.

Initially, things were a little odd, as we were asked to sit at a table with caution ⚠️ tape on it. From there, things went amazingly well. The dude working the check out register helped us and he was on point. I cannot say anything but great things about his level of service.

The chips and salsa are amazing. Particularly, the salsa is phenomenal, one of the best I have had anywhere. The ice cold beers 🍻 came quickly and the El Jimador tequila was delicious.

As for the food, bam, damn good. The carnitas as very well made. Both the carnitas burrito and the dinner plate were outstanding. The pork tamales 🫔, oh my lord, are some of the tastiest I have tried. Tacos 🌮 good, chile poblanos good, guacamole outstanding 👌🏼.

This is without a doubt a must try...

I love Mexican food, but this place has gone downhill since the last time I was here a few years ago. I won't comment on the service since a group of about 20 came in with no reservations just as they opened at 11am and therefore our server had his hands full.

However, the food was subpar. I ordered lunch fajitas of steak and chicken, which came out quite fast but the meat was tough. A small plate was brought out separately that included a small amount of shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a teaspoon of guacamole, with about 1/4 cup of rice. No pico de gallo, no sour cream, no refried beans. I was just eating the meat with a fork since I had no tortillas, when they were finally brought out. There were only two, and they were rubbery along the edges.

I'm disappointed to say I won't be back. I don't like leaving bad reviews but I can't help but warn others that you will be wasting...
