The dreaded third strike.. I went to Riverside today. I ordered a medium rare burger. I have to admit,.the fries were delicious. As for the burger, when ordering I said mid rare, the server acknowledged.when it arrived I could tell it was well done.i cut it in half, dry as a bone. It's an$16 burger, you would think they would show some pride
Total bill came to $36. $3.50 for a service fee that was never mentioned. Bye bye riverside The atmosphere is great, servers very attentive. My previous review, below, pretty much describes my recent experience. Dry, flavorless beef, literally three tiny pieces of pepper, all on one third of the sandwich. ONE small slice of onion. It's a big sandwich, but failed on every count.
I ordered garlic parm fries. Zero garlic, and the parm must come out of a can.
I will go back one last time, but if I used my three strikes and I write off the place. I am sooooo disappointed. OH NO! I have been to Riverfront many times. My favorite sandwich is the Philly Steak. I looked forward to getting one "to go" after a long day.
Just to clarify, my experiences in the past have been very good. This time, however, the Philly Steak was bordering on awful. This is the description mentioned on the menu, "Served on a Hoagie Bun with Onion, Peppers and Mozzarella Cheese.
The bun was fine, fresh and a bit toasted. There was a good amount of cheese..(as a cheese sandwich it would have been really nice). The beef, chopped, was very very dry. There was a bit of seasoning, but it was so dry, I needed to drink water between every bite. Maybe i should ask for au jus? should that not be included?
I ate two good sized bites, and all I got was bun, cheese and beef...no onion or pepper. Just for fun, I lifted the meat from the bun to uncover the peppers and onions. To my surprise, at the very end of the sandwich, I saw two one inch by one fourth inch bits of green pepper, no onion.
Basically what I got was a dry beef and cheese sandwich.
Because generally I have had good food, I am posting this as a warning. Maybe I should have inspected the sandwich before I left? Not sure. But I do know I will check the order if I ever get food to go again.
Update: Took my two adult sons, DIL and granddaughter here for lunch (we had gone there the previous summer, and it was very nice).
I had French onion soup and garlic parmesan fries. The soup was very salty and the single thin slice of cheese was tasteless. Very disappointed. The fries were very crispy (yea) and they were coated in what LOOKED like parmesan, but did not have any flavor. The garlic must have refused participation, because there wasn't a hint of garlic.
One son had the chili, which he said was "OK", not an endorsement.
My granddaughter, almost three, had the child's spaghetti and added ketchup to it. She ate one waffle fry.
DIL had a chicken wrap which she enjoyed.
Unfortunately, this had been my go-to place for a quick lunch. They have really fallen off. I will give it...
Read moreI am a foodie and I have been to nearly every place in our area. I don't like to be a nitpicker but I was just completely unhappy all the way around with my experience today. the service was lackluster at best. for example, waiting long periods between stops after the food was brought, for drinks. my mom was ready to go find where the iced tea was at herself she was so thirsty LOL. I'm going to talk about the appetizer platter, because I am a hater of it. they made all the stuff themselves, there was nothing from a bag here. now sometimes that can be good, but not in this case. it was all the same batter for the mushrooms the cauliflower and the onion rings. some kind of beer batter that was either not fried at a hot enough temperature or something was wrong because everything was just soaked in grease and dripping. and a little too much beer batter on everything. with the size of the blown up puffed up batter pieces it looked like there was a lot on the platter, but it was really just a few pieces of cheap ingredients. I'm going to hate on the wings now. I ordered six bone in wings and I got the sweet chili for the sauce. I ordered them naked and when they came out they were slightly overcooked and the sauce had no flavor whatsoever. I have had wings at many of our local places and these were not the worst but they weren't even in the running for the best or middle. that french onion soup though! it was pretty damn fire. I probably won't be going back there again. the last time I was there was just for drinks and appetizers and after a couple fish bowls I must not have realized how terrible the appetizers were lol or I probably wouldn't have went...
Read moreWell, I do frequent tthis place, it is perfect and beautiful setting... Always had a great experience here ... Until. I have ordered 3 times in house bone in naked wings bang bang style, asked for them skin crispy and no lid to go for first time, they came out rubbery, worker said they can only cook them so long.. How redicoulous, I don't care if they were burnt. They precooked same wings and they are discusting and soft. I asked them to keep lid off. The wings are delicious, however still undercookedto my liking g.. Need to better train your servers and bosses better. I will come back , but not for the undercooked wings. How bout cooking them the way I asked, There is no consistency whatsoever.
