Yummy Hawaiian BBQ — Restaurant in Petaluma

Great little no-frills spot with a huge vegetarian/vegan menu, including many soy-based "meat" items. It's hard enough to find a good vegetarian selection at many Chinese restaurants, much less vegan, so I was really excited to try this place. The service was fast, friendly, and efficient. Our funny & charming waitress greeted us with a huge smile and seemed happy to serve us, perhaps she's the owner. Indoor dining was available but we chose to remain outside at one of the two sidewalk tables. I felt the menu prices were a little on the high side for lunch, but portions are very generous. Our food arrived piping hot within 10 minutes of ordering, impressive for a weekday at noon. I chose the spicy eggplant over noodles for my entree and split an order of steamed spinach buns with my dining companion. Both were really delicious, although the eggplant was not at all spicy. Perhaps they forgot the chilis, but it was so good and I was starving so I gobbled it down as-is without complaint. The beautiful steamed buns were scrumptious, fluffy little pillows stuffed with really flavorful fresh spinach. I'd go back for those alone. I thought they were amazing and seasoned perfectly, but my companion found them bland and added soy sauce. She had the lunch special with BBQ pork over rice for her entree, which also came with egg drop soup. She said both were very good. Portions were large enough that we both had plenty to take home for dinner. With two beers our total was $42. I'd make a trip from Santa Rosa just to eat here...

The food here is great for what it is. Service is horrible. Henry was absolutely horrible. Trying to order a simple teriyaki chicken bowl was harder than it needed to be. I asked for light sauce and he insisted on putting it on the side. I told him they could still just toss it lightly but he refused that request and said it would be easier to put it on the side. I agreed since he kept pushing that past my initial request. We drove all the way down to go get it just to come back home and discover absolutely no sauce. I called in and asked how he could make it right - his solution was that if i was unhappy then I could BRING BACK THE FOOD and they'd return my money but that they had no intention of making it right for making the second trip down. I asked for like maybe a 10% discount on our next order or something if we ever decided to go there again? He said no- you can bring back the food. so for even $2 or $3 ask, that's the customer serviced we received. Absolutely ridiculous to take no accountability and to be rude on top of that! Keep up that customer service Henry, and your business owners will be out of business in no time.

Update- we get there and he hands a basic flyer that says 10% off that sits on the counter. On the phone, his smart-alec thoughts took over and wanted to be unpleasant on the phone before I asked if he was the owner there since i was appalled by his tone and response...

Visited this place yesterday, early evening, to order take-out dinner. You order at the counter and are served at your table if eating in. Plenty of seating to wait if taking-out. Staff was friendly and pleasant, and ready to take your order when you're ready. Menu was easy to read light up board, with lots of options, and item numbers, so you can order by number or name of dish. Prices are very reasonable for the portions received.

We ordered the Aloha BBQ Mix, which comes with BBQ beef, BBQ chicken, and kalbi short rib, which comes with rice, macaroni and veggie; and the Low Carb Plate of teriyaki chicken, which is on a bed of brown rice side of lettuce salad, and orange half. All platers provided generous portions and very flavorful seasonings and sauces. Delicious!

We also ordered spam musubi and BBQ chicken musubi. Lots of rice (almost too much), and well seasoned chicken and spam. Good value for what's provided.

I would definitely visit again and try some...
