So friendly, polite and the food was excellent! We were welcomed as soon as we came in. It really has a great atmosphere, and you actually feel welcomed. No fake smiles here. When we sat down, they brought over chips and salsa. The chips were fresh and the salsa was good. My girlfriend thought the salsa was good but too spicy for her ( she is a wimp though and can't handle anything spicy), I thought it was not spicy enough ( I love spicy food and usually like things hotter), but it was good! I wouldn't change it because it's perfect for people like my GF or groups. My girlfriend ordered the pupusas and I ordered the super burrito. She loved her meal, and actually didn't talk during our lunch, she just ate. I tried the pupusas and even though it had been cooked with beans ( I hate beans, and usually get sick just smelling them) I thought they were really good! My super burrito was perfect! It was really large, but not ginormous. I tend to normally eat on the heavy side and thought it was just the right size, so a couple with a normal appetite could probably share it. Everything was just so fresh and overall great! I would give this place more than five stars, if I could. We will definitely come back. I highly...
Read moreThey say the night was dark when the farmers came with ill intent, hatchets, and gloves. Their plans, laid months or even years ago were terrible and deadly, but He had other plans. Using His knowledge of the terrain and tactics suited for much smaller, less hand-having people, He led his family in a desperate escape. Feigning sleep, the chickens waited.
El Gallo clucked the signal at the very moment the farmers opened the gate to the henhouse. At once all of the chickens briefly took wing and flew directly at the farmers face. "Make contact, drop to the ground, and RUN!" Had been El Gallos command. I'll go last, so if he will catch anyone it will be me.
The plan worked perfectly, and far from being caught, the massive chicken actually knocked the surprised and off-balance farmer to the ground before running into the nearby fields.
They say that if you listen, El Gallo can still be heard upon moonlit winds when wickedness abounds. They say his crowing begets fear in the cruel, and guides the...
Read moreMy son in law and I chose El Gallo when we couldn't find the taco truck he usually goes to. We hit it at lunch time and was really busy but we got a table anyway. I think the lady that a couple of people have mentioned in the reviews sat us down and was okay though didn't bring us a menu when we asked and instead pointed to the scan code. You could read a bit of an edge to her. I suspect it was her husband that waited on us and he was super friendly. We ordered the basic combo plates - taco and enchilada with rice and beans. It was very good and the other meals that came out of the kitchen looked good as well. I'm from Texas so I am pretty critical of Tex Mex and I can say with some authority that this was better than a lot of Tex Mex fare... If I come back to Petaluma, I'll try their birria tacos. I would have ordered that if I had seen it on the phone menu. Would have been nice to have had...
