El Jaripeo — Restaurant in Petersburg

Our recent visit to El Jaripeo in Petersburg, WV, was nothing short of spectacular! The steak taco and enchilada were absolutely delicious, bursting with bold flavors and perfectly prepared. The portions were incredibly generous, especially for the unbeatable prices. The El Jaripeo burrito was a showstopper—enormous, packed with vibrant, mouthwatering ingredients, and easily one of the best burritos we’ve ever had! We also indulged in the churros and flan for dessert, and both were divine. The churros were perfectly crispy and sweet, while the flan was rich, creamy, and simply heavenly. The margarita we ordered was refreshing, well-balanced, and the perfect complement to the meal. What truly elevated our experience was our phenomenal waiter. Their warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly service made us feel like VIPs from the moment we sat down. They went above and beyond, offering spot-on recommendations, ensuring our drinks were always topped off, and checking in with a smile that made the meal even more enjoyable. Their passion for ensuring we had a fantastic dining experience was truly remarkable. El Jaripeo far surpassed our expectations with its incredible food and top-notch service. I really liked it here and ordered often especially at open, last two times have not been pleasant. Last time I wasn’t given sides with my fijita and this time I called twice, I’m not sure if it was a phone issue. Sounded like someone picked the phone up and just hung right up. Okay.. so I go into there and order and 12 minutes I get my food (good time) and I’ve never seen 5 pounds of melted cheese on a soft taco that was soggy at any Mexican restaurant before and I’ve worked at 4 of them….

My husband is very nice so I had to swallow it essentially and not eat. I’m hoping they see this and take it into a little bit of consideration going forward.

I absolutely loved this place when it first opened but the quality has reduced for sure… which is disappointing. I’ve spent a lot of money and support here. Left a bad taste in my mouth last two gos.

Very good food on every occasion I have been there. The service itself is good, nothing grand and over the top but the servers are polite and you get what you ask for, the only complaint I have about the service is that it was slow and that was more than likely due to me being there close to their grand opening both times I went and they were PACKED. Paying is slightly confusing with some servers taking your check at the table and some having you go to the front desk to pay, doesn't really bother me one way or the other but I just wish they would make it clear and concise. All in all a good restaurant and I will continue to eat there...
