Rudy's "Country Store" and Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Pharr

If you are looking for a great place to eat BBQ, Rudy's its the place. Let me start with the service, its great, they are friendly and also they give you samples to try if its your first time there, they have the menu on the wall so you can decide what you want to eat, if you are going to drink beer, you can take it before your order, the options on the menu are moist brisket (this is my personal recommendation), then they have the regular one, they have turkey, chicken, sausage, ribs and different sides to choose, from corn to potato salad, also you decide how many slices of bread you will need to finish your order, basically you have two options, order by pound or half pound, but there is also the option to order a sandwich of your preferred meet, they put your order in a plastic box, the next step its to choose your drink from the fountain, also there is an area with pickles, onions other good stuff, napkins, forks and butcher paper also are available on the same table, then you only have to sit and enjoy the best BBQ in the RGV, this is a place that you will visit every time you are in the area, if you are a tourist its a must that you will buy a hat...

I give Rudy’s an 11 1/2+ for cleanliness ALL AROUND. From the millisecond you step IS EXTREMELY CLEAN, the bathrooms as well, the tables are cleaned as soon as the customers leave and ready for the next ones, the ice coolers with the drinks ARE FULL of different varieties including beer, the salad fridge IS FULL of tasty choices, too. The service at the ordering counter the employees provide is 110% EXCELLENT. They greet you with a smile, they ask you if it’s your 1st time to welcome you and if you’ve been there before they tell you “thank you for coming back again to visit us, we’re happy you’re here.” The menu choices are exceptional, the condiments bar is also very well kept, clean and full……. I HAVE NOTHING BUT GREAT THINGS TO SAY ABOUT RUDY’S……. Their COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND……. Good and Bad. First the good , the turkey is always great. The service and employees are always great Now the bad , the consistency of the baby back ribs and the brisket. A week or two ago we were there and kept going back to order more baby backs, they were so so good. Lean and lots of rub and spices all over them. Just great. Couldn’t get enough of them , even took some home. Today, baby’s were full of fat no rub no spices , exchanged them , very nice employee swapped them out , but next batch still had fat not as much but still fatty and no rub no spices. Tasted nothing like the ribs on earlier visit. Brisket also , some days great some days not. So to summarize, other then the sides and the turkey which are all great. Brisket and ribs , your gambling on what you will get. And for the prices you pay , you don’t want to gamble . You want to know that what you get will always be good not sometimes will be good. If ribs are coming from different supplier, one that’s cheaper, please advise, so we can stop ordering...
