The Snapper Hole — Restaurant in Pharr

So I went to this place a few days ago and ordered the Blackened Fish with Zucchini and the Baja Fish Tacos and I have to say that it was the most grotesque smelling and unappealing meal I've ever came across. The Blackened Fish smelled absolutely horrendous, like it was marinated with a damp, moldy, rotten washcloth or rag that has been sitting for days. I couldn't believe how bad it smelled. At first I thought it may have been the plastic bag it had come in but when I got home and opened the box, it was the fish! I couldn't bring myself to eat it but fortunately for a stray kitten that was meowing about the past few days, it got to enjoy the fish. The portion size was no where near how others have claimed and the Zucchini that came with it was fried when I thought it was going to be grilled, even that looked like it was sitting in the freezer longer than it should have. I should've taken pictures but the rank smell was just too bad. As for the Baja Fish Taco's they didn't smell but these were the worst fish tacos. They were small fried fillets in a lukewarm flour tortilla, no veggies or any type of toppings on them and barely any sauce, they were so damn plain and lacked any flavor. I paid $36 in total including the drink but I won't ever be heading there again and it's a real shame because every time I tried going to this place it was closed and the day I catch them the food is a complete let down. I don't know if it was because they were having problems with some broken water line or cause they weren't fully open yet but I was willing to wait and wasn't in any hurry but still got the worst fish of my life. I don't know how anyone could think to serve fish that smelled as bad as it did or looked as unappealing as the Tacos did. NOTHING like any of the pictures that others...

It’s funny I see the reviews but from personal experience the food was great and fresh yes it takes a few minutes for them to prepare your food fresh instead of it being cooked in advance and setting under a heat lamp and as far as the person giving a bad review look people at their reviews everywhere they give a review they give a bad one as far as the shrimp being to over seasoned definitely not it is not seasoned at all and smothered in mayonnaise no not unless you done it yourself because everything is served on the side so I call B.S on that and you’re review I would give it a ten if there was such a thing but if you’re in a hurry and want things fast then go to a fast food restaurant not a real cook to serve fresh food...

The Snapper Hole is truly a hidden gem among the Nolana Food Truck Park. The ambient is very relaxing and the big screen was a new feature I hadn’t experienced before. I was craving seafood and when I was approaching the place you can tell right away the ingredients they were using were going to be fresh. I tried the fried Snapper and fríed zucchini which in my opinion was phenomenal. I got a hint of lemon pepper and Parmesan cheese when I took a bite of the zucchini. The batter used for the red snapper was like something I had been missing out all this time. The way the taste was fused with the fried zucchini along with the dipping sauces was the perfect combo for my late night shenanigans. Definitely coming...
