Dezzy's Jamaican Restaurant — Restaurant in Philadelphia

I’ve been living in the neighborhood for a while but hadn’t tried this spot. First, the staff couldn’t have been nicer. I got the jerk chicken with rice and beans, plus a side of yams. The portions were huge, definitely two meals for me. The chicken was spicy and perfectly cooked, the beans and rice were a little bland but they gave me a side of jerk sauce that made all the difference. The yams weren’t coated in sugary syrup and but were nice and sweet. Please ignore any bad reviews and give them a try. I’ll certainly be going back.

First time eating from here, well second. The first time my sister-in-law had them cater her father-in-law’s repass. We inquired about the food and she stated it was from Dezzy’s. We ordered a full pan of rice and peas and then a full pan of stew. Chicken. customer service good when I called and placed my order, received a call a day before and food was ready on time and it was a hit for my son’s 5th birthday party! I will Definitely use Dezzy’s for future events. My Aunt even asked for the address because we need a new Jamaican restaurants to order from. The ones around my way haven’t been that good. Disappointed, looking at the reviews I thought the food would have been much better. I ordered the oxtail platter with yams and Mac for $13. Everything tasted flavorless. The oxtail bone to meat ratio wasn’t terrible I had way more bone than meat. Not the mention there was no flavor. The Mac and cheese was runny and also lacked flavor. The sweet potatoes were not sweet enough. This place is located right under the subway and parking is scarce. Also this establishment is not placed in the safest location.
