Fred's Water Ice — Restaurant in Philadelphia

Fred's water ice is a childhood staple and is THE GOAT when it comes to water ice. Their passion fruit water ice is my favorite. Now as an adult I buy a few larges of my favorite mixes and keep em in my freezer for when I'm craving it. Best water ice in the city and I will argue with anyone over that. And they pretzels? Whew chile! I put so many of my friends on to Fred's and they pizza pretzels. I got friends who will drive across the bridge to get some Fred's. Staff has excellent customer service skills. Always nice, always helpful. They take care of folks. Fred's is a part of West Philly history.

I grew up about 4 blocks away from Fred's growing up. Best believe it was worth the walk to and from instead of getting a water ice from the corner store across from my house. I even used to sell Fred's water ice in the summertime as a kid.

I remember other vendors had carts and this one guy used to come around on the weekends when we had street cleanings and be like 'WOODER ICE! SOFT PRETZELS!' His cart had a hand washing station attached to it and it was the only cart my Mum let me buy...

I will never in my life go to Fred’s again. First of all he had an attitude while I’m trying to place my order, I ordered a medium black cherry water ice along with a hot sausage. When I paid for it he charged me for the sausage, but at the same time said that he didn’t hear me ask for a sausage that I asked for 3 times. So I told him that I didn’t want the sausage, so I left with just a water ice. As I’m driving, I’m eating the water ice, and chewing on something that I thought was a piece of fruit.
