I’ve ordered from Hayashi Sushi once before and had a decent experience, but tonight was different. After waiting 20 minutes in my car, I came in and the guy at the counter made things unnecessarily awkward. Instead of asking for my name or checking the order, he had me list every item. Then we went back and forth about what I ordered versus what he claimed I paid for. It was confusing, uncomfortable, and could’ve been simple if he just clarified.
When I got home, the food wasn’t the same as it used to be. The rice was gummy, two pieces of the California roll had no fish, and the Toro I paid $15 for was just regular tuna. (See pic—clearly not Toro.) The gyoza was good, but overall it wasn’t worth it.
Not looking for a template response. Just letting you know—the guy working tonight shouldn’t be in customer service and I’m never coming back.
Update: I saw the response. To clarify—the issue isn’t that the tuna wasn’t “to my liking.” I specifically asked if they had Toro, she said yes, and then gave me regular tuna.
This isn’t about preference; it’s about being charged for something I didn’t get. They passed off regular tuna as Toro and took my money for it. That’s the problem.
And as for the part timer, not an excuse. I payed “full time money”. 0 shot of me coming back there. This review is just meant for other people to make a...
Read moreJust tried this sushi for the first time tonight, decent options, a little pricey for the basic items. I tried the Ironman roll and it was pretty good. I tried it because it has mango in it and I love mango, but there wasn’t a lot in the sushi roll itself. I also ordered salmon mango sushi which was $8 for only 6 pieces. More generous mango this time. It was all very fresh and I was super happy to being having sushi, and I would’ve probably wanted to go back, but there was one big problem I had. I got the 3 rolls for $21 dinner special(which comes with a salad or soup), and the spicy shrimp, and spicy tuna rolls tasted heavily of what I think was vegetable oil. I know you have put something in the rice to make sure it doesn’t stick together, but I’ve never tasted it so strongly before. It wasn’t a big deal at first, but the more I ate the more it bothered me. By the time I had finished most of it my mouth felt like it was coated in vegetable oil. Thankfully the Ironman sushi, and the salmon mango sushi didn’t have the same taste. It may have been just a weird batch of rice, but I was not loving it. I ended up poking out the inside of the sushi and eating the fish without the rice. If it wasn’t for the strong oil taste, and the lack of mango in the sushi I would go back. Also they added pocky in the take out bag, and that...
Read moreBest sushi in the neighborhood. Try their lunch specials 11.00AM-3.00PM - great value for amazing sushi. Always fresh and with plenty of options. Lin and her husband have been running this place instead of her sister for some years now. We're regulars for over 5 years and do it on almost weekly basis. Philly roll for example is with fresh salmon and avocado (and cream cheese) so little bit of a twist to the same old same old - highly recommended. (they always throw in small gifts for the takeout's - like Pokey Asian sweets or other types of...
