Love it here! I’m a local nanny, and community member who visits Johnson’s playground almost every week day. The folks who run the community center are welcoming kind and have invited us to several of their community events. They have a public restroom, lots of shade over the playground which btw, is next to the train tracks. The 3 kiddos I care for have been huge fans of watching the train go by since they were lil beans. Recently they were able to install new swings, and the playground is mostly supported by barriers to keep little ones safe.
of course there is also the adjoining splash pad, best in the city. All brand new equipment, tables under huge canopies for shade. A major upgrade from years prior. So happy that they were able to recieve the resources to ensure the families in this community have access to cold water when it’s summer. The lifeguards are kind and they enforce the rules to assure kids are safe and that it remains clean and well cared for. That’s my observation. If you’re looking for open space for kids to run, there are two full basketball & baseball court/fields, complete w two very clean Porto potties that are inspected bi-weekly, I know becuz I frequent them. The community center is cloaked in mosaic and it just feels like so much love happens within its walls. Thank you for welcoming us, we all feel so full of joy when we walk...
