After a long absence since 2015, I recently revisited this Korean restaurant and was pleasantly surprised to find that it has retained its original charm and cleanliness. As I entered through the side door from the parking lot, I was greeted by various artifacts reminiscent of the Joseon era, adding an authentic touch to the ambiance. Interestingly, they still have a payphone on the wall near the bathroom, which brought back nostalgic memories. The food itself was fantastic, and the waitstaff was friendly and attentive. I opted for the oyster tofu soup with a mild spice level, but it turned out to be quite mild indeed. If you prefer spicier fare, I recommend ordering it at a medium level of spiciness. Additionally, I ordered the stir-fried squid, which was a delightful combination of sweetness and tanginess. The galbi also had a subtle hint of sweetness, enhancing its overall flavor.
This place certainly possesses a character of its own, with its distinctive decor, unique culinary offerings, and charming seating benches. I was impressed by the overall ambiance and felt that it truly stood out from other restaurants. I am looking forward to returning in the future and will certainly recommend this place to others who seek a memorable...
Read moreI've eaten Korean at many different places and this was by far the least impressive. I had gotten the Kimchi "soup," which is actually Kimchi Chigae and that was pretty good. I found a hair in it, which was gross but I understand it happens so I let it go. I also got the Jong Ga Jib Gal Bi (bbq beef ribs) which was so bland and inedible. It was chewy and had no flavor. Lastly I got the veggie pancake and that was also very bland. I've had galbi and veggie pancake before from other Korean restaurants and they were way more delicious than from here. First time eating here and I was underwhelmed by the food and disappointed about the hair in my chigae. Also they're much more expensive than most Korean restaurants. If you want authentic Korean, I would recommend Seorabol. If you want amazing galbi, I would recommend Dubu. Both are much better options than...
Read moreHonestly, I am not a tofu fan. As such, the idea of going to a tofu soup place was not a high priority. After my visit, I'm glad I fit it in and would happily go back again!
First, they have expanded their menu beyond Tofu. Beyond an order of tofu soup, we split a BBQ squid appetizer and also got a stone pot dish. Food was amazing. I even ripped into each banchan they provided! Portions were excellent - 2 entrees and an appetizer was plenty for the two of us and we even had a bit for a light snack/lunch the next day.
Pro tips: The banchan is unlimited, so order replacements for any you finish. Press the bell for service (and make sure you hear it ring). Come hungry and do not be afraid to order something you might not normally consider. Finally, consider the spicy level and order accordingly (they do have...
