Food: I ordered extra crispy wings, and the skin was still soft. The fries weren't very crisp, either. We also got the greek salad from the menu. It had a good amount of feta and other ingredients. However, the base of 2 heads of romaine as well as red onion skins were in it. For over $12, I expect they'd be more careful with putting only edible parts of food in their salads.
Service: I called to place an order for pick up. I asked if I got 50 wings if they could do 10 of them plain and 40 garlic parm - all extra crispy. He said they could. I ordered another $40 worth of food. Then, when he read the order back, I realized he was charging me for 40 wings and 10 wings, so I was losing the discount for buying 50 wings. I questioned it, and he said it "wasn't much of a difference." If it wasn't much of a difference, he should have just gone ahead and rung it in as 50 wings, esp after he said he could at the beginning of the order. I wish the penny wasn't held so close to his eye that he couldn't see the dollars behind it. He also kept trying to sell me on adding cheese to the fries even after i'd specifically said "plain fries/plain curly fries/plain sweet potato fries." Between the soft wings & fries and the frustrating phone service, I won't be ordering for a group again. I may come back and try a cheesesteak and see if the service is better without calling ahead. The cashier seemed nice.
When I got there to pick up, the food was out on the counter - not on a warmer, so it could stay warm. The cashier referred to the order as the big-big order. You'd think they'd want to make sure the order was 100% before I checked it. It was missing the celery that comes with the wings.
Also, the person (male presenting) taking the order insisted I pay by card over the phone. Then, when I got there, the receipt/order was already closed out, so I couldn't leave a tip. I didn't have cash on me either, I felt bad, but there wasn't much I could do at the time. The owners should have a better system if they're going to make pick-up orders pay before they pick up. Their staff deserves better.
Atmosphere: clear lines upon entry. If it was warmer, the tables outside looked nice to sit at. Inside had a good diner vibe. Overall, what I'd expect from this...
Read moreWell.. this review is hard for me. It’s like a beautiful marriage gone terribly wrong. I placed an order on the online app they advertise for you to use. I was given a time for pickup. I showed up about 15 minutes later than scheduled to give time to have it ready. Here is were the cheesesteak place I have been patronizing for over a decade and I always promote them when people ask where to get a good sandwich from, showed me exactly how much they care about their customers.
I walk in I’m not greeted. The lady at the register acted as if she didn’t see me.. meanwhile her co worker continues to write on a note pad. When the lady at the register finally acknowledged me I say “good morning” and I tell her I have a pick up order. I give her the name she goes we didn’t take your name. I explained the app takes the name. So after several exchanges of you don’t have an order I show them the receipt.
She still denies it but, the young lady working with her asked to look at my receipt. I show her. They will now begin to make my order, however they have to manually take the order. I give the younger lady my phone she wrote down the order. I do notify them I had a flight to catch and I put the order in early so I could head straight to the airport after I leave(as I always do). I asked for it to be packed to travel.. they used to be really good at doing this. Trust I know, I take cheesesteaks home to Tennessee every-time I come to Philly. This time They didn’t bother. They barely wrapped them. The one piece of aluminum foil they wrapped around my sandwich unraveled. So now the cheesesteaks are all inside the bag they threw it in. So $40 on something I won’t even be able to eat. Smh I think not!! Wow Larry’s this is what we are doing now…… I won’t be returning. I don’t care how much my father loves this place… maybe they other locations aren’t like this(never been to those) I ONLY go to this location on 54th because my dad lives close by.
Never an apology for the mishap. But, what could I expect when the lady at the register isn’t...
Read moreThe service is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! I literally drove from Virginia (famished )I knew of this restaurant (I wasn't close to where I'd normally go)called in to place my order and was greeted on the phone with "Larry's hold". After waiting five minutes I hung up and called back this time she answered with "what's your phone number". Because I was hungry and someone recommended and raved about this place I gave my order. I was told that my pick up time would be 20 minutes. Good stuff my appointment ended right on time and I headed over to pick up my food. I walk in there was no kind of welcoming greeting (the place was not too busy or crowded there were only 4 customers waiting in line). I was unsure as to how the pickup process went (no directional instructions or instructions were posted). So I approached the young lady who was at the counter. Me: "hi I called in an order where would I pick up my.... before I could finish my question her snappy response "the line is over there"! NO THNAK YOU!! I immediately left. I do not understand this type of customer DISSERVICE! If you are that disgruntle, or fed-up with the job QUIT! You are doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to help this business owner when you are rude and nasty to customers! I don't care if the Pope himself has visited (there were pic of Joe Biden on the wall). If you are being treated with respect and kindness then that's what you need to give in return. Remember YOU are at work and me ordering will help pay your salary. Word of mouth is still the best advertisement and I will be sure to share this experience anytime I'm asked where to get a cheesesteak from in Philadelphia. I hope the owner/managers see this and do some coaching and training. Their business should NOT lose money because of...
