I had the silk press titled "silk press jawn". I found Danni online doing research on where I could get a good silk press like I see in videos on youtube (where your hair is wrapped as well). I'll start with the things I did not like and end with the things I did. I read that Danni was well versed in natural hair including 4c types. But when combing my hair she started from the roots instead of the ends and working her way up. That isnt the proper way to comb 4c hair. It left my scalp a bit sore and I could feel my hair ripping out (I did not say anything to her because I wanted to get the full experience of how she does hair). The silk press also wasn't what I expected. It was just a simple blow out and straighten and not wrap was used. And the products used didn't actually help silk my hair down like I see other stylist have done. I know it can't be because of my hair type because I have seen other stylist do 4c hair and get the silk down look. Next, I did not appreciate how much was trimmed off when I asked to only cut a little. She is the professional so I did not argue much afterwards. I must have needed a lot cut off so she did. But usually when I get my hair trimmed the stylist listened to me. I think that is important because it's the clients head. The customer is always right, right? The last thing I didn't like is that she used the wrong kind of gel on my edges. By the time I left the salon and got home they were white and flaky. Now for what I did like. She seemed very friendly and talked to me which created a comfortable atmosphere. I was afraid that the service would take long but it didn't. It was around the 2 hours she estimated. The last thing I enjoyed is that the appointment felt like it was for me. I arrived on time for my appointment at 10am and started shortly after. I did not have to wait too long to get started and I appreciated at. Unfortunately I wont be back mostly because I don't feel it was a silk press. I’ve been here total of 3 times. Since 2023, I’ve gotten a silk press from Danni every fall. I go back to Danni because she is very gentle during washing, gets deep in the scalp, and my hair always reverts natural after my press. My birthday was beginning of 2025 so I decided to try something new. I picked up work, got a job and all to get a sew in by Arielle for my birthday. I have no problems with Arielle, she is very nice and accommodating. I thought hair included in her policies also meant bundle hair, my mom thought her prices were expensive so I figured that meant it provided everything… I would’ve brought my own hair if I knew. I feel it should be clarified only braiding hair is included. I’m slightly dissatisfied because I don’t look how I envisioned. Pretty sure I overpaid because I paid a $25 deposit, $75 for the silk press, and tipped $10. At least she was compensated but I paid a total of $110 for hair I don’t love since I settled on it. I wanted protective styles all 2025 so hopefully my hair wasn’t affected as much by the heat. I love the environment; the R&B, the conversations are interesting too. I’ll start off by saying that my hair did come out nice, and she did give me some pointers on how to keep my hair from being heat damaged. But I went online to book an appointment after a recommendation from my friend. My scheduled time was 12 PM. I arrive for my appointment and she I see she has someone in her chair, and someone else waiting on her. Little did I know that I was going to be waiting almost 2 hours, and I got out of their around 3:30. I was sitting in a chair hair dripping wet for 2 hours after she washed my hair. I had an event yesterday, I had to cancel all my other appointments because she doesn’t know how to manage her time. I don’t understand if you’re going to have a set appointment time that’s the time you should be ready for your client. She should just do walk in appointments.
