Years ago we bought all of our rye bread, knotted rolls, snowflake rolls, from Lipkins in NE Philly. We were happy to learn that they didn't close but relocated. It was an hour drive but we were happy to drive if it meant we got our quality breads back. Well, unfortuately the breads were awful. The rye bread was a bizarre texture and had an awful after taste. It was almost half baked but stale and crumbie. It seemed like it may have been frozen and thawed 4 days ago. Not good. The knotted, egg wash rolls were very, very dense, they weren't horrible but they weren't good either. The snow flake rolls were not sandwich rolls at all but dinner rolls/buns.
