Moy Fong has always been a neighborhood staple in the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia. I have fond memories of Moy Fong as a child. Eating there was always a treat during my preteen years. They made awesome chicken wings and amazing noodles. However, since the coronavirus pandemic happened, the air conditioning systems may have caught COVID-19. They seem to have a problem keeping it on. It was blazing hot in there at least 250°F! What was most unfortunate is that they had the nerve to keep the door close making the customer bake along with the food. Every elder person in the restaurant complained how hot it was. One of the ladies actually passed out on the floor waiting for food. Moy Fong does serve good food however I think it's time for an HVAC upgrade. The store itself could use a makeover too. It looks the same way it did in 1972 with the same Dust bunnies hanging out on the chandeliers like they did 50 years ago. My husband and son drove the 15 minutes to the store and was then told they had to bring all of the food back, but they were closing so they would have to wait until the next day. I don't understand their customer service and being so calm and nonchalant about the fact that their was a nasty fake nail in our food that came from your restaurant. All I can say is be very cautious when...
Read moreOn street meter parking. Entry is WC accessible if you can wheel over the doorsill, but the entry hall between two manual-open glass doors may be tricky for larger power chairs. Mid-century commercial interior demonstrates longevity of this store. Has some bullet-proof plexiglass, but the counter is open. $10 minimum on cards. There is a dining room, but no one was using it. Steady stream of neighborhood customers came in for take-out while we waited. There is no delivery.
The food was ok. Typical for a neighborhood Chinese food place. The crab Rangoon was crispy and nice. We tried wonton soup, Gen Tso' s, beef & broccoli, fried dumplings. Nothing bad, but nothing outstanding. It appears to be a beloved neighborhood institution with loyal customers. Nothing...
