Nifty Fifty's — Restaurant in Philadelphia

Cross contamination, unsafe food handling practices, discrimination

Outside of myself, I've only seen one person wash their hands, one time. I was never instructed to wash my hands. On my first day, Siobhan had me start serving tables/taking orders/making drinks/serving food without washing my hands. (I chose to wash my hands before I touched anything consumable) I've only seen one person wash their hands and that was before the restaurant opened. The server I was training under came in the morning and prepped the burger buns without washing her hands, she just put gloves on.

A customer with dirty hands put a fork back in the clean silverware tray for new customers, and I asked how to fix the situation. The server asked someone to wash them and they just didn't lmfao

One server constantly wipes his nose and face, coughing/sneezing into his hand and then turning right around and making drinks and adding cheese and bacon to people's fries. I was the only one who observed that. I told Siobhan and she said it's not her problem, "she's not anybody's mom" and to tell the manager. I told the manager and the manager watched him wipe his face and told him to wash his hands every five minutes. After that manager left, he didn't wash his hands.

They have a cult like infrastructure at this Nifty Fifty's, if you're going to work here, be ready to conform and be silent or they'll just get rid of you. I asked mutiple employees if they liked their jobs, and I got a swift "no" each time. I see why.

An employee, Siobhan, used profanity towards me, and Jamie was disrespectful and loud because I dropped a chicken tender lol. Jamie also cooked Siobhan and herself breakfast, and refused to let me get something to eat. I had to wait hours to eat, while they cook what they want, when they want. Nicole said "that's just how they are, they don't mean any harm." I guess by harm, you mean getting me fired because I don't accept disrespect as a form of endearment.

I told Nicole I was uncomfortable with the way I was being treated and talked to, and provided examples. I expressed interest in transferring to a different location. She dismissed each of my examples, and told me to "get to know the team better." She also said there was no possibility of discrimination because "we don't do that here." Lol. When I got home Nicole texted me saying I'm fired, so the least I can do is let customers know who they're patronizing.

Despite all of this, I'm still honored to be at the forefront of your mind when you think of problems to fix at this establishment. The management at this restaurant have no standard for hygiene and no integrity. I dodged a bullet....

This place is super cute it’s just takes you back to your own childhood dinner From the waiters dressed 50s style to the restaurant design and all the artwork. It reminds me of the old happy days TV show! I went there on the Sunday after church so it wasn’t too busy. We got table right away. I got the turkey burger cause I don’t eat beef. I get to single Patty because this has less salt than the double patty. And I get the fries plain so I can choose to put on the pepper and salt myself although I love cheese fries I will say be careful with the cheese fries more of the cheese because it is extremely salty to the point you’ll have a bad headache me I love cheese fries but unfortunately I always get the fries plain. I recommend the cheese on the side So you can figure out how much you can handle. All the milkshakes are amazing!! The cashiers are always nice and very knowledgeable waitresses or knowledge of all of the food that they have. one of the worst restaurants I've EVER dined in. my burger was litteraly falling apart when I got it. even though it looked disgusting, I wanted to give it a chance. big mistake, the burger was dry and tasted terrible, not to mention the cheese tasted like it came from dollar general. the rest of my family - 5 others- all agreed with me. the food was terrible and it didn't even all come out at the same time. originally thought this would be a good choice, but it was possibly the worst things I've ever tasted. not to mention the prices were incredibly high for terrible food. took somewhere around 30 minutes for all of our food to come out, some of it being out instantly and some coming out when everyone else finished. the bathroom was a whole different story, I went in there to see toilet paper and water all over the floors. almost the entire bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned for around 2 months. the mirror was actually the cleanest part of the bathroom, which I've never seen. very disappointed with my experience, this completely ruined my...
