Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Philadelphia

Typically I do not like to go to Rita's because I feel their prices are a bit high for ice cream and water ice. However, I took my children here the other day and I am giving this stand a four star review. I would rate the stand a 5 star except that my children had to wait a fairly long time on a hot, sunny day, before they were served. This particular Rita's is an outdoor serve only facility. A covering of some type outside the facility might be something this Rita's should think about investing in.

My high rating is due to the fact that the server gave my children one size up from the children's small size. He did this because they did not have anymore children's sized cups. What he also did was charge them (me) for a children's sized cup even though they were served the next size up. I really appreciate that the server was thoughtful enough to do this. Many workers/owners would take advantage of the situation and charge the higher price even though it wasn't the fault of the customer. My children really enjoyed the water ice, ice cream, combos they ordered! Great job sir.

Again, it may be a good idea for a popular place like this and the many other outdoor serving Rita's to have better covering for it's customers whenever they have to wait in line...

First of all, they did not have the mango flavor I wanted so I had to change to cookies and cream milkshake.

We also ordered a chocolate gelati which came out right away, and I told the guy that I wanted a second cookies and cream milkshake. It took literally 10 minutes for the other guy to come back with only one milkshake so I told him I wanted another one, as I’ve told the other guy. He looked really upset that he had to make another one, at least this one came back after only 5 minutes.

This “cookies and cream” milkshake is not even cookies and cream. They were both just chocolate with cookies mixed in. Additionally, it was just like soup. It was so watery. I did not have the patient to argue and wait again for another milkshake. It seemed like they didn’t even want to make me the milkshakes.

During the 10 minutes of waiting, more people arrived. All of them said they never come here because they never have flavors available. They were only here because the Rita’s in ivy ridge was closed due to power outage. That just shows you how bad this location is. Used to be a good location,...

This store needs to be shut down. I came by last Saturday in the afternoon with my kids and wife and was disgusted. None of the workers washed their hands before touching or making my treats. The store front was filthy and I found a long red hair in the water ice. I won’t be returning anytime soon. It’s really disappointing it used to be a great store. Things have gone down hill recently I’m wondering if it’s under new ownership and I hope corporate can save this store before it has no choice but to be shut down on several health violations I saw just in the 5 minutes I was standing waiting for my family’s treats.I’m not the type to write nasty reviews or reviews at all but something had to be said about this awful store. You lost a loyal customer and I will not be recommending this...
