I have been a steady customer for about 8 years and buy about 2-3 cakes a year, at least two of them being custom cake orders. I also buy smaller ready made items throughout the year. I have always been super impressed with the cleanliness of the store, the great customer service, and have had wonderful outcomes with cakes both in taste and decor. I purchased a $240 custom cake for my son’s birthday - a two tier cake one 8 inch chocolate chip pound cake atop a 10 inch vanilla pound cake. All smooth sailing the entire process. I picked the cake up it was decorated just as I had asked. Upon cutting into the chocolate chip cake I noticed the cake was darker but thought nothing of it due to the chocolate pieces however, the cake crumbled so much so you couldn’t eat it with a fork and needed a spoon, the cake had a very dry texture, and overall tasted over-baked/burnt. 3-5 year olds pushed it away honestly and I ended up throwing the entire top layer in the trash. The bottom layer was completely fine. But due to this issue I didn’t have enough cake for all the birthdays guests. I called the bakery after the weekend finished, very politely, and had a great exchange with a Naomi who really listened to my concerns and was apologetic for the issue. She put me on a brief hold to speak with the owner who offered a store credit - I agreed to a store credit because like I said I frequent this bakery. The owner felt a $20 credit was comparable for the cake that was inedible and stated that “the bottom was fine”. I did not expect a full refund whatsoever that would be an unfair ask, but I really felt disregarded and felt a 25-30% refund/credit would be reasonable. Truthfully I am very disappointed and feel that maybe this place has outgrown the “TLC” and appreciation for returning customers that I once felt it had.

This was my first time buying a custom cake at Schenk’s Bakery. I went in for a consultation and paid $600 for a custom 2 tier baby shower cake and 24 plain cupcakes. The consultation went well. I picked my cake and cupcakes up the day before my baby shower with no issues. However, I noticed the box used to hold the cake wasn’t very sturdy for a 2 tier cake and did not cover the entire cake but I didn’t think anything of it (I drove with the cake safely placed in my car)The cake was beautiful and was everything I envisioned and that’s all that mattered to me along with the taste of course!. The day of my baby shower, the top layer of the cake slid off and collapsed onto the side of the 2nd layer while in transport to my venue. The box holding the cake gave in on one side and I’m not sure if that’s what seemed to cause the domino effect with the cake sliding. Or the cake beam support wasn’t placed correctly? The custom made teddy bears and balls added weight to the cake as well sitting in a thin holding box. Regardless, I was distraught and so upset but had to carry on with my big day. We had to salvage the cake and cut the pieces that were edible. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to display my beautiful cake as the center piece of my baby shower, instead I had to use the cupcakes. I will say that the cake was moist and tasted great. Everyone commented on how good it tasted along with the cupcakes. The following week, I emailed Naomi who handled my consultation and she was very apologetic. That’s all I received- a sorry…nothing more. Im a loyal customer to anyone who treats me well with business, and I would’ve been a repeat customer. But all trust was lost as a first time customer with this bakery.

If i could give no stars I wouldn't give any! I placed an order and provided a picture of I wanted, when I went to pick up the cake the color was wrong! I wanted purple, gold and green, and i was given blue, gold and green(these are not Mardi Gras colors). The owner tried to fix my cake but it looked nothing like the picture I provided!!! You could still see the blue!!! Very sloppy fix job by the owner!!! How do you let something leave your bakery thats not right !! was told by the girls I wouldn't be charged for the cake ,but ended up paying anyway. I tried to convince myself all the way home that it was ok. But it wasnt. I ended driving all the way back to the bakery. They gave me my money back and told me to keep way the cake .its not about the money!!! I was given 2 donuts for my inconvenience, when I went back to the bakery I paid for them. I'm beyond disappointed!!! Thank you for ruining my birthday! Next time I need a cake ill go to the local grocery store...

Very very unprofessional business. I called in on the 14th to place an order for my 2 year old’s birthday for an under the sea themed cake. The lady I spoke with was suppose to write everything down since she asked questions such as flavor of cake, what shape would I like the cake (sheet or circle), type or frosting, when can I pick up the cake (closed on Monday), would I like balloons or anything on the cake that is when I explained to her I wanted under the sea theme she then told me I would need to submit a picture online through their website I did just that the same day and I have proof because I uploaded picture to my computer that same day. I call in just to check on my order and they say it was never written down or sent in. Ridiculous!! I cancelled my order no way would I let a bakery do my order when they can’t even stay organized to keep my order in the system. I have all evidence of this transaction occurring. Stay away from this bakery!! Do not waste your time. I should’ve read the bad reviews before even placing in order and waste of time and now I have to scramble to find a cake for my daughter. Oh May I addd the lady who took my order asked me how to spell my last name twice which always happens because it’s not common yet never wrote down my order. You’ve...
