New Hunan Wok — Restaurant in Philadelphia

Don't you just hate it when you forget why you haven't been to Hunan Wok in the past three years? No sooner after I ordered and paid, it hit me as I watched the cook drop my 2 shrimp rolls in the fryer. Cooking my fried food first as main order was being prepared. WHY do I question this? Because it doesn’t takes FIVE FULL minutes to fry an egg roll in a fryer, when set on to the proper temperature. You see in a flyer set to the proper setting it would only take a few minutes and most important when it’s on the proper setting the oil does not seep into the food so easily. So, even after wrapping my egg rolls in numerous paper towels my shrimp roll was still soaked with grease.See it’s saves New Hunan Wok money turning the temp down and giving you a greasy egg roll then turning it up and frying food properly. Oh did I forget to mention my main course was cooked in less then two minutes and was sitting on the counter waiting for the TWO EGG ROLLS to soak up all that grease. As of 9/6/19 Friday, it looks like this place is permanently CLOSED. Phone line shut off and displays on front counter removed. I'm going to miss their lunch specials with free brown rice as an alternative side and other food choices. UPDATE : As of 9/10/19, this sign seen in front window : Not Open due to cleaning + construction. Will REOPEN next week with new owner. UPDATE 9/17/19 YES, they are back OPEN with new owners. The good news is the new menu has an entire page of Thai dishes, 90% hot or spicy but that's Thai cusine.
