I came here only from seeing and reading the good reviews and I’m wondering ...... How sway?
I wouldn’t give it any stars if I had the option but nethertheless here goes my HONEST review. First let me say I grew up in NYC, the Mecca for authentic cuisine from various different cultures. I have many Yemeni, Algerian and palestinian friends. Ate food from their moms , aunts , big sisters . Even eid😍 always loved middle eastern rice and yogurt, I forgot the name cause it’s been so long but I think it was made with flour it was a dough consistency and they would put the meat gravy in a hole in the middle, we would eat it with our hands. Anyway I say this to say I know what AUTHENTIC Arab food should taste like. So I got the chicken wrap and the chicken with rice and 2 pistachio baklava and one walnut one. My mom used to make it she learned from her best friend Sabah who was from Yemen. Not even that taste good! I noticed a Mexican guy and a black guy with braids coming from the kitchen a few times and after eating the food I see why it just didn’t taste like anything ,it was bad. 1 out of ten I’ll give it a one because after tasting both I trashed it. The backlava was ok it got 5 out of 10. The falafel food trucks have waaaaaaaaaayyy better food. I mean they claim to be Arab , it doesn’t really hit home like that but at least it’s flavorful for 5 bucks . Me being from NYC and growing up there there wasn’t a lot of restaurants that you would go to and the food not be at least a 8 and up. I always said philly food is nasty and they don’t have a good food palate . You can rarely find somewhere with GOOD, FRESH , FOOD. I hate when they have Chinese people cooking African food, if you get my drift. Like they try to find the cheapest cooks so they can save money for their business. I need to be a food editor because...
Read moreOrder: Hummus, Falafel, Turkish Coffee Pros: Everything was incredibly good and packed with flavor, the hummus was super creamy, and the Turkish coffee was to die for. Cons: None off the top of my head
Thoughts: We had about an hour between a wedding and reception that we were attending and we really weren't thrilled about the notoriously bad wedding food so we decided to stop in and get some highly rated middle eastern food. We were honestly there for less than an hour so I really don't think this review deserves to be very long, or in depth.
This is some of the best middle eastern food I've ever eaten. I genuinely wanted to go back so badly, and despite it's peculiar location this would most certainly become a favorite restaurant if I lived nearby. The flavors just popped for everything we ate and drank. The falafel and hummus were everything I would have wanted and the Turkish coffee had that specific spiced flavor that the best Turkish coffee has.
I really wish I could have gone back a few more times to try other dishes but I can say that in my opinion they are absolutely worthy of their 5...
Read moreIt was my first time visiting this little gem on Oxford Ave. The staff was very welcoming. Daphne(I apologize if I spelled your name incorrectly) took our order. She was so nice and when she smiled, her whole face lit up and her eyes sparkled. I wish that more people in the service industry provided such a warm experience. The food was excellent. The baba ghanoush was the best I have ever had. The hummus was also excellent. I didn't get to try the Arabic salad because my husband liked it so much that he ate it all before I got to try it. The lentil soup (which was not on menu) was very good. Lastly, my chicken kabob sandwich was flavorful and juicy. I loved the presentation of my sandwich too. It came out in a wrap but not a bready wrap. It was simply enough to hold the sandwich together. My husband had the kifta sandwich and he thoroughly enjoyed it. I can say with certainty that we will...
