I shared my experience with the owner a few days ago about the water grits her folks made. mine you the brother is decent when It comes to the cooking. Like I’m a paying customer and you tell me I should say something about runny grits knowing I just told u ask the cook not to let them jwans be runny. It’s only one way to make grits or oatmeal thick, that’s all . As u justify by telling me some ppl like it one way or another way. Like stop with all of that, she responded to me as if I was hating . It’s only one way to make grits . Not watery, the mango chicken was blam. It didn’t taste like nothing. I find me wasting my money. Every other paid weekend, I’m sick of supporting ppl like her. Mind you if she responded differently I won’t be on here. A narcissist, So for all my sisters n brothers from local 427 and District 33 stay away from owners who don’t respect Criticism, and don’t respect what the customer says . The customer is always right…… Let me repeat this the customers are always right. I think this place got inconsistent, and lost respect for the hard working ppl that support black businesses.. You take ppl money sit up in your Benz and don’t have a care in the world when ppl of your own kind n way of life supports u from the hard. I was very upset with her n I’m just done with this spot. If I see a price on the menu and I come in and the food is more then what I saw online. The place is very Unorganized, the menu online isn’t updated. Just keep my money n spend it somewhere else. I hate when I explain myself to a person , I let the person know what’s the situation but you got a answer for everything. Instead of reapplying with a solution u got all the answers. We wonder why theirs not enough black businesses. Why because the owners don’t respect our perception...
Read moreUnfortunately we missed our usual Saturday spot. The church at 12th and Poplar. Decided to try this place. We ordered turkey wings smothered in gravy. No gravy on them. I don't care what anyone says the sweet potatoes are definitely canned. They taste like they just added sugar and a little cinnamon. No nutmeg, butter, or brown sugar. Potato salad was awful. The greens didn't taste like they were cooked in smoked turkey. Adding a bunch of red pepper flakes didn't help. I've never ordered soul food and cornbread or some kind of bread wasn't offered. Judging by the rest of the food I didn't miss anything. I try to always spend my money with my people. Somehow the BBQ -soul food place on Broad st (Asian owned) is a much better option. I read the reply. I did call. The cashier acknowledged that she forgot to tell him to smother in gravy. I wasn't going to drive a half hour back and that's if traffic is light. You are definitely thinking of a different customer because you weren't in the kitchen when I was there. You were sitting at the table on your phone. Keeping my people from wasting their money is helping my people. We'll continue to patronize black owned businesses that actually...
Read moreOrdered on a Tuesday afternoon and I appreciate how quickly it was delivered! Timing was impeccable, arrived sooner than expected. One part of my order was missing, which was the seafood Mac and cheese which was disappointing because I was looking forward to that the most. pricing was good, really fair and some of the sides were only $4 which I don’t feel is really common. As for the rest of my order: teriyaki turkey legs: was decent, the sauce was extremely salty and overpowering on the meat. It was mostly a liquid consistency compared to a glaze - which I’m not sure if I misplaced my expectations, but because it was a watery consistency I was able to enjoy the turkey leg sans a lot of the sauce and that was good. It was also an great portion size! regular mac and cheese: was good and makes for a great side, id order it again. garlic parmesan wing: this was extremely difficult for me to enjoy because the sauce the wings were tossed in was extremely salty. potato salad: definitely the best part of my order. The taste was great, the portion was great, and it arrived at the perfect...
