I regret to say that I cannot recommend The Wine Garden in Philly to anyone. My experience with this business was extremely disappointing and frustrating. I booked this venue in June for a birthday event scheduled for September, but unfortunately, the service I expected was never delivered.
From June to August, I consistently made payments as per our contract. However, just four days before my event, the owner informed me that they had given away my slot for a wedding that suddenly came up. I had already made all the necessary payments and had set aside that specific date for my birthday celebration.
The owner offered an alternative location, but it lacked several amenities I had paid for, which left me feeling even more disappointed. Despite my concerns, I tried to work things out, hoping for a solution. I asked if the value I paid for would still be upheld at the new location, and the owner assured me it would be.
When I saw the photos and videos of the new location, it became clear that it was not suitable for my event. I promptly asked the owner for an alternative, but she failed to respond as promised. As the event date approached, with no response and no suitable venue in sight, I felt compelled to cancel.
The owner agreed to refund me, but the process was far from smooth. I was told to wait 5-7 business days for the refund, despite the fact that I had paid through Venmo, which should have allowed for a faster refund. To my dismay, the money did not arrive within the promised timeframe, and communication with the owner was sporadic at best.
Eventually, the owner processed the refund through Venmo, raising concerns about why this wasn't done earlier. Throughout this ordeal, the business displayed a lack of professionalism, unresponsiveness, and condescension. The customer service I received was far below my expectations.
Due to this experience, my birthday plans were ruined, and my guests who had booked flights and hotels faced unnecessary inconveniences. I'm sharing this review to warn others about my unfortunate experience and the unsatisfactory service provided by...
Read moreThey really need to have a separate business listing for each of their locations because it seems like everyone has nothing but raves about the Baltimore Ave location. My experience was the 17th and Chestnut location for Sunday afternoon Brunch.
125.00 for brunch sounded a little crazy to me (134.00 with the website ticket "fee"!) but I was ready to splurge and enjoy my first real Girls lunch since Covid hit. I must say the space was beautifully decorated but the tables were too close together so you were really jammed into too small a space for the number of spots sold.
The unlimited bar was not as advertised. After being given one small mimosa upon being seated, we didn't get another drink until nearly an hour later and the line for the late-opening bar was ridiculous. The food was laughable--one small omelet maker to accommodate maybe 40-50 people. You do the math. I only got an omelet because I was seated at one of the first tables to be served. Waffles were premade and cold, there was no butter, your choices for an omelet were cheese, mushroom and spinach. That's it. I don't eat seafood but my girlfriend had one small cup of shrimp and grits which contained exactly one shrimp. There was no coffee or tea. We ended up leaving waaaay before our time was up just so we could walk around the corner and grab coffee. The wine bar for an evening out with drinks and good music may be an excellent idea but the Brunch is a straight rip off. But hey, if you're just interested in posing and posting for the 'Gram, maybe this is the...
Read moreTraveled almost 2 hrs to attend a birthday brunch.
Positives:
DJ was lit; Friendly owner and staff; fun atmosphere; great Ambiance to take great pictures; light, pretty, & flavorful themed drinks -red sangria, mimosas, frozen roseâ, white wine topped with cotton candy.
Negatives:
Overpriced $156.44 ( $135 plus tax & fees) for the brunch buffet menu/ spread served. A lot of food listed online was unavailable . (No shrimp, grits, quiche, omelette, fruits , vegetables, Caesar salad). Menu was pastries, toss salad, sausage, waffle halves, potato wedges, fried Chicken. Parties were served closer to or at 1 pm. All drinks were not ready right away. Since this is a 3 hour event, all food and drinks should be readily available at the start.
Tight seating, someone had to get up every time I wanted to get up. Table was under tree so fresh bird poop was a problem at my seat
No live entertainment
Owner stated normal caterer was unavailable and she was understaffed- perhaps because of this all customers should have received some sort of accommodations.
