Last update: The owner's response encouraged me to give it another shot. I've since returned TWICE and have still not eaten. Once, during the week. I was one of two patrons and there was a business meeting happening in the corner. Staff walked back and forth but I was not greeted and I'd sat for over 5 minutes without being attended to. One of the people in the business meeting kindly suggested I sit somewhere else since I had books that he assumed I wanted to read in their establishment. I kindly left. No one had come to my table to greet me, ask what I'd like to drink, or take my order. The second time was on Sunday morning with many other patrons. I seated myself and although staff was walking around tending to multiple tables, two staff members walked past my table and I was never greeted. After several minutes of being CLEARLY SEEN but not acknowledged, I began to watch the clock for how long it would take someone to acknowledge my presence. After about 4 minutes of sitting, patrons at another table got the attention of staff to take my order. At that point, I chose to leave instead of pay money to get poor service. I will not return. I wish nothing but the best things for this establishment but the customer service is severely lacking. Simply greeting customers upon arrival should be standard--as it is in all other parts of the country. I don't want to make this about race, but I was the only person of color in each instance of interaction at this establishment. All other patrons seemed to be attended to and happy.
Update: The owner's response makes me feel like I should give this place another try! And I will.
Original review: The ambiance is incredible! The hostess at the door could be a little friendlier. I was seated immediately and handed a menu from the cash register. After observing the menu (which looks amazing), and considering how I felt about my interaction with the hostess, I decided to leave before ordering. I don't want to spend my money where I don't feel welcomed and where I feel customer service is lacking. I can cook my own food or go somewhere else with a better experience. I would probably give it another try if someone invited me to go. The decor and the menu...
Read moreIve been here a few times.the pastries seem great BUT the food I have eaten has only been the breakfast/brunch items and to be honest its nothing fancy .consider it cheap products from weis on a nice plate .i am.honestly fine with that.atleast I didnt have to cook it and it was quick.what does bother me is it is a little expensive as it is (what the menu says) but I figured its a local place and I'll support them.what upsets me is the last 3 times ive been there the receipt is more then what the menu says it should be .and everytime they tell me "oh prices must of went up" i ask them how is this so expensive. They tell me "oh well this is that much and oops nope it must of went up "when the items listed are already expensive for what it is and then you try to squeeze more money out of people its ridiculous .how is a quarter of a flat bread (almost the size of a english muffin) one egg,one slice of bacon, one thin pattie of sausage, one slice of thin ham,one piece of cheese and a small 99 cent bottle of orange juice come to almost 12 dollars??everywhere else it is half that price .if it wasnt the cheapest weis kind of products used then maybe itd be worth it .it just feels shady when they try squeezing a little more out of ya for a already overpriced item .the place is clean, the people are nice but I wont be going there again. If all you want is good home made pastries then id go to them over any local bakery tho . I know its tough times but when the product is not worth what you charge your doomed to fail.i would like to see them succeed.id like to see this town flourish and id like to see it become a local hot spot but I cant justify paying double what everyone else charges because of a...
Read moreBrown Dog catered our August 2024 wedding. Bill met with us early to discuss menu options. Brown Dog doesn’t have a ‘set’ catering menu – they work with their clients to come up with a menu that is special to them. We were going to Italy on our honeymoon, so Bill suggested we do some Italian dishes! He was very helpful in the brainstorming phase and even gave me a recipe to try for a salad he wanted to make so we could make it and try it beforehand. Leading up to the wedding, he was able to answer all my questions and even helped me create a menu to print out for my guests. On the wedding day, they exceeded expectations! They had a big charcuterie table for cocktail hour, which everyone loved. We did a plated dinner for 130 people (they can provide the dishes and silverware, so it is much easier than having to rent!). The meals were served very quickly and super professionally. For each table, the staff would come out all together in a line and serve one table at a time. I was very impressed! The meals we served were ‘Bistecca Steak’ with 3 sauce toppings (people are still talking about these sauces!), ‘Tuscan Chicken,’ as well as a vegetarian/GF/vegan option of ‘Quinoa Stuffed Pepper.’ The portions were generous and the food was amazing. I had people coming up to me during the wedding asking how they could get more of the mashed potatoes! For dessert, Bill and his team went above and beyond by making us cream puffs to supplement our ice cream. People were running to get seconds! Bill was so great to work with. You could tell he wanted our wedding to be spectacular! I am so glad we went with Brown Dog for...
