Ten stars 🌟 beautiful environment, atmosphere and interior design. I can't call it decor because that word does not do justice to the lovely walls that appear to be beautiful wood carvings, nor does the term decor have the esteem to refer to the cultural artifacts thoughtfully placed about - the natural enhancement of lighting , and the comfortable seating areas with clean adorable apolstrty. The food was tasty and served after preparation in a timely manner that compliments the flow of conversation. I think my favorite was the Doro Wat, along with the beets, and the chickpeas, however the cheese was light and creamy and the enjira bread was mellow, tangy, soft to the touch and added the proper balance to the spices and flavors . The absolute highlight and great surprise was the staff! These were the kindest, with pleasant voices, understanding spirits and just incredible Gentleman who took out order and served us. It was as soothing as a spa date to be under their care . One last note my friends, you MUST treat yourself to the fruit drink...where do I start...it seems to be a fresh puree of sweet tropical fruits layered in glass with various delicies. Each layer of fruit bounces with flavor as you sink your straw in at different levels to find distinct flavors of watermelon , mango etc each like memories of childhood when we played all day outdoors and fruit was sweet & real. So much better than candy but did remind me a bit of mambas but healthy. The juice in itself could be a meal And worthy of a visit. Please do go, and thx again to the Staff for making this a peaceful wonderful meal. We arrived mid afternoon and left full and...

Unacceptable Delay and Poor Communication

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I experienced while ordering from your restaurant. I placed an order for doro wot and firfir through a delivery service. The order process was initially smooth, but the subsequent delays and lack of communication were highly disappointing.

After placing my order, I was informed that the preparation would take some time, which I understood given the nature of the dishes. However, 45 minutes after placing the order, my delivery driver had still not received the food. Concerned about the delay, I contacted the restaurant to inquire about the status of my order. The staff member assured me that the order was ready and would be handed to the driver immediately. Unfortunately, this information was inaccurate, as the driver was forced to wait an additional 30 minutes before receiving the order.

In total, the preparation and handover process took approximately 75 minutes, which is unacceptable for a delivery order. The prolonged wait time, coupled with misleading communication from the restaurant, caused significant inconvenience for both myself and the delivery driver. This experience fell far short of reasonable expectations for timely service and...

Ethiopian food is hands down my favorite food ever. The owner is always friendly (I’m so sorry I don’t know your name), it’s a small “mom and pop”. The food is so amazing, I was finally brave enough to try kitfo- it was also amazing.

The owner does a lot himself, including being the only server I’ve seen the several times I’ve been there - as such, service can be on the slow side. I’ve had an ordered item go forgotten once, but by the time we were done eating I was too full anyway; serving sizes are huge for the low price. I’ve gone once and they were out of 1-2 things, no big deal, again - small “mom and pop”. In my opinion, the food is worth it.

Just read some of the other reviews, and dayum, I guess some Google interment strangers fancy themselves legit influential critics and deduct stars for a restaurant being BYOB (seriously, if you’re going to get Ethiopian food - mango juice. Always.) and for staff not knowing what items they would be interested in beforehand (Ethiopian servers are unqualified if not mind readers, I guess) that the restaurant has run out of.

I have personally been criticized and complained about to higher ups for not being an omnipotent mind reader myself - not...

I finally ate here, and the food does not disappoint! Everything was delicious, by far the best Ethiopian in Phoenix! The servings are generous, flavors authentic, and the couple that owns this establishment puts much thought and love into their food. Hands down the best spot! Also, I would have added a photo, but we cleaned the entire platter - good sign, I suppose :) I bought injera here (5 in a pack) and got the chance to chat with the owner. It’s a family owned spot, he and his wife run it and it’s cozy. Unfortunately, I didn’t eat here, but I asked some ladies who were eating how the food was and they said it was amazing - it looked and smelled amazing too from where I was standing. The servings were also generous. I’ve been to four other Ethiopian places in Phoenix and the surrounding area, and this place definitely looks like it knows what it’s doing as far as cooking goes. I’m definitely going to come back and try a few dishes here. I would add that being patient is important since they’re running both front and back of house, but once you chat with the owner and see the care they have in their food it’s definitely worth going to.

I don’t even know where to start! The flavors, of not only the spices but the meats and veggies are incredible. The injera bread, homemade cottage cheese, the perfect textures, the kind staff (Andou is very friendly and also such a personable guy to talk to), makes you feel like a friend is preparing you a home-cooked meal made with love....this place is one of my favorite restaurants I’ve ever been to. The lamb with the rosemary flavoring is top-notch and once you try the the beef tartare you’ll be forever changed ;) The extra mitmita spice Andou gave us on the side was so good I used it on eggs the next morning. The cabbage and carrots are so flavorful and perfectly cooked and I also recommend the beets and lentils. Collard greens went well with everything too. Not much space inside but you can eat in-take our was super neatly wrapped so no spills and was ready to eat when we got home, with lots of extra injera (the soft pancake- like bread that is perfect for eating your food with versus utensils). Definitely check it out, you won’t regret it. Also great for take out; they have a whole system down.
