Shame. I used to drive 45 minutes for my favorite dish..the lamb pasanda. For years it was sliced, tender lamb meat. They are now serving this dish ( at $23 chef special) like any curry with the dried cubes of mutton. I happiky paid more for this "chefs special" because it was a better cut of meat and only Indian Palace serves a non mutton dish. I have gotten this dish over 20 times. I ordered this dish from my initial male server.
When I enquired I was told I was wrong and it was never sliced despite it stating it on the menu and the ONLY reason I would drive 45 minutes for Indian. I felt gaslighted, being told repeatedly I was wromg and that is how the dish comes.
At this point a female server came by. I was in the middle of my meal and she asked if everything was okay and if finished. I said it was fine. She asked if I wanted dessert and I said no. She was rude and condescending and rushed me throughout my meal. It was 5pm on Monday night so not busy. I still was eating and drinking my beer when she asked me if I wanted boxes. Then dropped off the boxes and bag ..which they never used to do. They used to wrap up my meal.
What am I paying a tip for? Why can't you box up my food? Covid is over. The bill was dropped off and I told the female server I would like to stay and finish my beer while I packaged up my meal. For context ..I was in my nursing uniform. I'm a hospice RN and I had a very stressful, sad day and all I wanted was to wind down and get served the food I ordered. Instead I felt like they were anxious to get rid of me.
I put my card down but after no one came to process my bill I went up to the take out stand to pay. I spoke to my initial male server and asked to speak to a manager. I was told he was not working. He asked what was wrong and I re-explained the lamb pasanda was not as advertised nor as previously experienced. I explained they used to wrap up your food and no longer do this. I explained I felt rushed..all in a calm manner. The female server was rolling silverware but left to.confront me. She moved the male server out of the way and stated " if you don't like it don't pay". I calmly stated the dish was different and she stated they had a new chef and it's not her or the male servers fault.
I was happy to pay for my meal and would have tipped 10% and honestly, I found her attitude insulting. I didn't complain to get a free meal. I asked questions and was gaslit and treated like an inconvenience. I didn't want to talk to her but she made a point to confront me.
After working 13 hours today with dying people the last thing I need to do or want to do is write a review. But Indian Palace..you deserve it.
I won't be...
Read moreI have heard great things about this place, but never stopped here until today. The inside and outside of this place is beautiful. The building is divided into two halves: a shop on one side, where you can buy Indian products, and a restaurant on the other, where I was heading. The first thing I noticed when I stepped inside was that I was the only customer. Since I had arrived between the lunch and dinner hours, I guess that was no surprise. The second thing I noticed was they had a buffet table, which I had not expected. I had figured this place for a regular restaurant, which it is to some extent. You can still order off a menu. I decided to try the buffet.
Right away I am taken aback by the paltry selection of items, and my complete unfamiliarity with them. I have never eaten Indian food before, and crossing it off my bucket list was one of my reasons for stopping here. Most of the dishes appeared to be goop made from different vegetables. I generally do not like goopy foods, but I am game to try anything new. For protein, there was only Tandoori Chicken, but the pan was empty. The waiter said something to me, but it was hard for me to understand him because of his thick accent and because he was chewing food. I finally understood him to be saying that he would bring more chicken.
I pile my plate with different colors of goop and sit down at my table. After sampling everything, I quickly determined that Indian food is not my thing. It is just too spicy and, well, goopy. I am not going to say the food is bad. It is just that I had never eaten Indian food before and my palate is unused to it. Other people who are more familiar with this food might find it excellent. Indeed, the Tandoori chicken, when it finally arrived, was good.
I give this establishment high marks for cleanliness and ambience, and average marks for food and service. I would have given higher marks for service, except that the waiter was eating while on the job. While this does not personally bother me, especially considering that I had arrived during the restaurant's off hours, it still must be counted against them. Most customers do not want to see their waiters eating while serving them. So, overall, I give this place 3 stars, which is a decent rating in my book. I may go back and give this place another try, and update this review accordingly. It really is a...
Read moreISRRIOUSLY NO. BELIEVABLE RATINGS. NOt ONE INDIAN PERSON EATS HERE. Cause they know that it’s horrible. went there tonight April 10 2023 at 600 and after going to their Buffett that was great I am extremely disappointed and unsatisfied with their regular dinner…. I payed 35 dollars for frozen food… if I wanted to get frozen food I would of gone to the market and bought the bag of frozen peas carrots geeen beans and corn and put in in a6 tablespoons of oil and tomatoes and made it myself….. I told the waiter that I’m really watching my food and trying to eat healthy I had to send the dish back for the extreme amount of oil that was in my food half of the serving dish…. Was laden with oil. I told the waiter please and showed him 3 tablespoons of oil that I pulled out of the dish. And asked him if he would eat that himself and to my surprise he said yes!!!! The waiter was very upset…. He said he was the manager but I was driving home and called and was told the manager was not there tonight and the ‘manager” hung up on me when I was informing him that I was not wxpecting to get frozen food and the reason that I go to an Indian restaurant is because the food is usually fresh…You know the bag of mixed frozen peas carrots and corn and green bean medley that you buy at the frozen food section at the market that’s what I got… the waiter informed me that he is a chef…. How can a chef be proud of serving frozen food???? I drive out of my way for 1/2 hour to go here and this is what I got!!!! On top of that I ordered the stuffed bread with cauliflower snd it tasted not fresh and warmed up from 2 or three days ago…. Again went to the buffet everything was delicious and fresh …. If the waiter/manager would not of hung up on me and settled this issue I would not of written this review…. I would like to speak with the management so they can fix this situation. Old not fresh food. Drove 1/2 hour thinking it was good and even recommended it to...
