A long trip from home to Kabab King which they also call it Afghgan Food but it was worth going there. The restaurant is a family owned and operated business which was opened 2 years ago offering Mediterranean specialty dishes, sandwiches and salads and also side specialties of the region. Having lived there and being familiar with the original dishes I enjoyed my lunch and what they had to offer. The concept of "all you can eat" actually starts at 3 pm when they offer a buffet of the remaining food of the day for those who did not get a chance to be there at lunch time so they can come and have a late lunch at the restaurant. They do delivery, catering and banquet services as well. Accessibility conveniences were available to adults and children and to those using wheel chair. In a conversation with the owner of the restaurant we talked about the similarity of dishes in the region and also how the problems in one place impact the whole region. This reminded me of a poem by the well known Persian poet SADIE (1203-1294) who said: Of one essence is the human race, Thusly has creation put the base; One limb impacted is sufficient, For all others to feel the Mace The poem is carved in Farsi language on the wall inside the door of the United Nations in New York.
A memorable lunch...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood is good. My daughter and I previously had the gyros (first time trying them) and we loved them. I noticed the salmon was not available to order online so we went in to order at the counter (first time). A couple of people were seated/waiting and we were informed that there were people in front of me so the wait for salmon is 20-23 minutes... Okay, no problem we had no where to be at the time. Sure enough people came in to pick up online orders as well as counter orders and were given food first. At this point its still no biggie, I'm expecting the salmon to just require special prep and I'm glad about the intentionality. About 30 minutes pass. Before our food was ready, we noticed how she handed everyone else their food in their hand over the counter and told them to have a good day and thanks for coming in. When our food was ready she called for us and just looked at us then walked away while pointing and saying, "it's right there". Very different from how other customers were handled. Food was good but when paired with service, it's a no for me. I'm not paying for good food that comes with treatment towards anyone as if they're beneath them. Wish them well but I won't be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis mediterranean-style resto has come a long way since its beginning and our first visit a couple of years back ā it has improved and making it a worthwhile go to for Mediterranean in an area lacking this style of cuisine. Although it does not rank in my top ten of mediterranean foods in the Valley it does well for an unpretentious shopping center storefront. This moderately and sparsely decorated location, with just the basics in dĆ©cor and seating fixtures, its offerings are reasonably priced, relatively good and quenches the desire for this cuisine without driving for miles into the city. They offer the customary Beef, Chicken, and Lamb dishes of Mediterranean-style foods like Tandoori, Greek Salads, Kabobs, Gyros, Halal, Shawarma, Tzatziki, Falafel and more. On our last recent visit, we tried both the Gyro Plate with Feta Cheese and the Chicken Kabab Plate with Feta Cheese. Both were more than adequate in their presentation but somewhat lacking in their traditional exuberant flavors. They have improved considerably since our previous visit, and we look forward to coming back⦠with the expectation that they continue to improve on what stands to be a decent offering....
