La Canasta Capitolio — Restaurant in Phoenix

I’ve been going to La Canasta for many years. But I will never again go to the Capitol location. EVER. So I ordered the Pozole. They were promoting at the register for $9. It did read one size only. I get that. So I didn’t expect a humongous serving. However, what they brought out was a joke. It wasn’t even a cup. I regret not taking a picture of it. It couldn’t have been more than a 6 oz serving, and wasn’t even half of the small bowl. My entire table (14 people) commented on how bad the portion was. Being hungry and very disappointed , I complained and sent it back. The lead waitress came out and said that that was the serving size and there was nothing she could do about it. That if I had a problem with it, to take it up with the general manager. And of course he wasn’t in. So I asked what else could be done. She said nothing. So I asked for the menudo instead (like most of my party). I figured that was at least a full bowl. But I was told I would have to pay the $2 difference (seriously). And what was brought to me was a bowl of hominy and a large piece of fat for the tripe. Wow! Anemic portions, Bad food and terrible service. That’s a trifecta that will make sure I never go this...

This was once one of my most frequent lunch stops. Lately, when I do stop in once in a while, I cant help but notice the portions are getting smaller and smaller. I used to get the Botana Platter once a week so the changes are significant and so obvious to me. The mini chimi only had sauce inside, no meat, not one piece. The small piece of a beef tamale (looked like 1/4 of an average tamale) may as well have been just red sauce, because there was maybe two strings of shredded beef inside and It was dry and stale. Im not sure how old it was?The tequito was smothered in flavorless guacamole and also seemed to be 1/4 of an average taquito, again no meat. The mini taco was soaking wet from the diced tomatoes pretending to be beef. I understand the last few years have been hard on everyone, but I'd rather pay a few extra dollars if costs have gone up, than be treated as if I'm stupid and won't notice poorly portioned and executed food. There are too many other local places that respect their customers enough to keep up quality of their product and dont waste my hard earned money. I went with my Family on Mother's Day May 14th, 2017 around noon and asked for 3 Cheese Enchiladas and rice and Beans. When my order came there was only one Cheese Enchilada and I told the waitress I didn't order just one I ordered three. She hesitated and said, "well....I only have one." I told her I didn't order only one, unfortunately my family said, "it's ok!" And she quickly placed the plate down and ran off! I got up went to the register and said I ordered three cheese enchiladas and I only got one! The guy said, "Oh I am sorry, I couldn't hear anything with the music going." And then proceeded to charge me for another two enchiladas. I am sorry, but I have worked in fast food, when you mess up you take care of it. They messed up and they didn't even want to satisfy their customer. Plus the dumb waitress was like I only have one! Well obviously! Go fix the problem then!!!! Wow the incompetence of these people! They screwed up and didn't even want to fix it. I ended up having to pay for their mistake, literally. Ugh I won't be going back to this restaurant. There are more classy Mexican...
