This place has been recommended to me by several friends so I decided to give it a try this morning. It was not a great experience.
I ordered what they call a Country Benedict, which is poached eggs and sausage patties on top of biscuits covered with country gravy. I also got a side of their home fries. Which are basically fried potatoes with seasonings. Everything looked good when the food arrived. The eggs, sausage and biscuits were great. But the potatoes were very undercooked. Some of the slices of potato were so undercooked that they were so hard you could hardly bite through them. The worst part was it wasn't consistent across the whole dish. Some of them were cooked just great, while others were not.
Then I picked up my coffee cup only to find a dirty mug. There was a lipstick imprint right on the rim one side of the mug. I hadn't seen it sooner because I had taken a drink from the other side at first. When I turned the mug around to pick it up with my other hand that's when I noticed the lipstick. When I brought it to the waitress's attention, she apologized and got me a new one, but made a joke about that "not being my color" and did not offer any kind of discount, to not charge for the coffee or anything to rectify the situation.
When I got to the register to pay, the lady did not inquire about how the food was or offer any pleasantries at all. Very straightforward business attitude.
This was my first time to try Ronnie's Cafe and it may be my last. This was not a good experience and based on it I would not be able to recommend this place to anyone. Apparently most other people don't have the same experience that I did because the place was packed with people. But unfortunately I was...
Read moreDon't go here for any special occasion they definitely do not know how to accommodate. Took my Dad here for Fathers Day it was where he chose to go because he comes here alot. He loves there food and the portions. Well we waited about an hour typical no problem there. It was crowded and its not handicapped friendly. Anyway 5 in our group we get our beverages and we ask our waitress give us a few more minutes. Well I guess she forgot about us because we had to wave her down after 15 min. We order and it took our food 30 plus minutes to get to us. Out of 5 plates 4 of them were COLD. I'm talking the butter for the toast, pancakes,French toast nothing was even a slight bit melted. Eggs, bacon biscuits & gravy ALL COLD the only thing hot was coffee. So we got our waitress let her know and instead of wanting to get fresh new plates she's putting them in a dirty old microwave to warm our food. Well if it was anywhere else they would have made fresh new plates. Went to pay and let the manager know and i got the coffees taken off the bill and a hand slapped on the counter and she says what do you want me to do i gave you your coffees for free. REALLY that was the hottest part of the whole meal. She says well that's all I can do we are busy. WOW I will NEVER go back here. They need training on Customers Service, and on how to handle BIG crowds and be HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE. Need...
Read moreWas tentative about overall expectations because of the patriotic decor, and for good reason. This country is filled with Cafes that put on the colors of our country and then humiliate us all with rude service and middling food. Ronnie's is an establishment that makes good on the promise and delivers great-looking great-tasting food, the kind of food that you think about later on. The service is really good and exceptionally attentive considering the volume and density of business that the do. Your family can enjoy a meal here in peace and quiet even if the room is full. Dishes I rather enjoyed so far include a pastrami-burger & coleslaw, a chicken fried steak worthy of west Texas, and a sausage & egg omelette that Jacques Pepin would be proud to turn out of his skillet. Better than average technical skill in the kitchen for sure. I only find myself taking points off due to the klunky payment procedure which at times is quite an imposition on the nearby tables. I felt like a rude lummox trying to stand between tables in the line to pay for our meal, and I assure you I am a gentleman of decent manners. However, if they only accepted the giant stone coins of the Yap Islanders, I would haul a burger out of...
