It was our first time here, and upon arrival, I knew it was going to be great when I saw the head sushi chef is Japanese. Coincidentally, today was international sushi day and I didn’t know until I saw a sign for it when we were at our table. What drew us in was the all day happy hour and the reviews. Don’t let the location deter you, the ambiance was quaint and very typical Japanese-esque, the fish was fresh, and they were such healthy and generous portions. The rolls are stuffeddd with ingredients, and it’s not overly packed with rice. I only photographed the salmon avocado roll bc look at this ratio?! Anyway, the service was five stars, the wait time for food was quick (there were 4 other tables at the time we were there just before 6pm), and the woman and the kid server were kind and attentive. We got 5 rolls, 3 on HH and 2 not on HH, and they were all delicious. The mixed tempura was also really fresh, hot, and crispy, and I liked how as soon as we ordered the mixed tempura, our server confirmed we were okay that it came with 2 shrimp and I think 4 vegetables, so we knew exactly what was coming.
Overall, a great experience, great prices and decent selection of rolls on happy hour. My personal favorite is always just the salmon avocado rolls and they weren’t on HH, but it’s only $8.99. We will definitely be back when we’re in the area. Thank...
Read moreSmall Japanese restaurant where you feel the authenticity from the moment you open the door. Genuinely, it feels like I step into a different country as soon as I walk in. The family running it speaks Japanese first, English second, and I'm pretty sure they run the place like they're still in Japan. They didn't adapt their culture, so adapt your expectations of the experience. Don't expect a fake smile, that's not the culture. Don't expect small talk, that's not the culture. Don't expect everything to be brightly lit for excitement, it's cozy and designed for conversation. What you can expect is some of the best sushi in Phoenix, at a price that I was able to afford on the tightest budget. For 2 people, under $25 is actually a reasonable expectation. Possibly under $20. And if you're not into sushi, the rest is amazing, too. I've been back over a dozen times, and I'm going to keep going back for...
Read moreA friend and I went today for dinner on a whim, as she lives around the corner and had heard good things. Those good things were definitely true!
The price for appetizers could not be beat, and the price of each roll is exactly what you would expect from any decent, non-highend sushi restaurant.
The staff were friendly, attentive, and happy to answer any questions. The food was delicious! Together we ordered 4 rolls, the spicy garlic edamame and gyoza. Everything was delicious!
While I expect gyoza to be pork unless otherwise specified, I did appreciate that the waiter made sure that we knew they were pork.
The lunch specials were priced really well, and they have good happy hour prices on a lot of 'regular' rolls.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Sushi Bros to people, and will definitely go back if...
