We were looking for some hot fried catfish after a family event and I Googled fish restaurants in the area and we decided on Leon’s . It is in a shopping center so it’s a store front . It was very busy on a Friday evening . Tables are pretty close to each other but not uncomfortably so. It is a family atmosphere. A lot of mature customers . Upon walking in and past customers who were already served the food looked amazing . The menu had a lot on it so there was a lot of choices and one thing I found interesting was they served cheese dip. But the catch is there are no chips . I was wondering what you would eat that with . Luckily that day every table’s order got cheese dip along with other fixings free. I was told every order came with it by the waitress- but no it was literally every table and that was a very small amount of cheese dip. It would only really benefit one person . The cheese dip was good. It was reminiscent of Mexico Chiquito cheee dip. I used hush puppies to dip and fries since there were NO chips . Very odd . The food did look amazing on other’s plates as I walked in, however the serving of fish that I received wasn’t that spectacular. They were very small pieces and they were cold . I knew it was strange that almost as soon as our order was taken our food was brought out . I’m sure it’s because they fry batches of fish and sit them under a light or in a warmer so they can serve faster . That was not a good idea . The fish wasn’t seasoned with anything . It was tasteless to me . The other fixings were ok. Nothing to rave about . The person that was with me did enjoy their food , but they don’t eat salt or seasoning because of health issues . I think that Leon’s does cater to customers that may have some of those concerns so ask for salt and pepper when you go. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very pleasant and tended to the needs of our table promptly. I personally wouldn’t go back if I’m looking for good hot catfish.. if I order three pieces of catfish and I’m paying quite a bit for it I expect to get three nice sized pieces not two and a half or three shriveled pieces . ** the waitress did not inform us that the cheese dip could be refilled (it may be listed on the menu). We ran out of fixings and wasn’t offered anymore to replace it . We got ONE cheese dip that is very small for two people (wish I had taken pictures ). To be fair we could’ve asked for refills . But we were asked about drink refills but NOT any fixings refills . ** I didn’t inform the waitress the fish was cold - why would the fish be cold at a fish restaurant ? The waitress was a very nice server so I’m sure she would’ve heated my fish up ?? ** I agree that 10.95 for three pieces of fish is not expensive . I got what was paid for . ** The fish really didn’t have any seasoning on it . Maybe it was just my plate . I did see other plates that looked amazing as I stated in the beginning of the review . I also stated my companion enjoyed their meal. ** a sit down restaurant where I am waited on by a waitress … this is what happens at restaurants. So WE should be grateful ?? A lot can be said about that statement but I digress . The waitress was tipped above and beyond . We were extremely generous with her tip . I believe in...
Read moreI've heard a lot about this place, nothing bad just that they have some really good catfish. So I recently decided to try it out because I love a good catfish dinner. And before placing my order my mom told me to make sure I tell them I want my fish crispy otherwise it'll be too soft. (It was a to-go order) My wait time was about 15 minutes, which is normal for a to-go order. Food was ready in time and hot & fresh as it should be. The fish was seasoned well, crispy on the outside & fluffy on the inside and It taste great. It didn't have that fresh water fishy taste, which I dislike. The hush puppies were good as well. I don't too much care for cole slaw. And the fries were decent. My only issue is it wasn't what I expected for the price of a large. The dinner seem a little empty to me, it didn't come with enough fries. The fries are what makes the meal, at least that's what I think. Iol. Other than that I would go back again for the catfish and probably try...
Read moreMy lady has frequented this spot with her late grandma, so we went to grandma's favorite spot in remembrance. The establishment was clean even though it was well into dinner service. The staff were very friendly and easy to talk to. The owner of the restaurant was right in the middle of things and was making sure everyone was comfortable and happy with service and food. The best part was the food! Homemade pickles, fantastic fresh hushpuppies with an unusual but outstanding homemade sauce, fresh tasting catfish, and let me say the best steak we have ordered at a restaurant in years! I was not expecting such a perfect piece of meat when we ordered the ribeye! It was so good, that I didn't even think of snapping a picture! I cut into it to make sure it was cooked to my preference, and it disappeared into delicious bites! We will definitely be recommending this spot to anyone who visits the area. The catfish house with...
