I went in to this business for the first time today. Excited to try out a cute shop and support small & local. I took my younger toddler in and an employee made mention that my daughter was “flirting” with a male employee, simply because she is a child and may have smiled. Now I’ve heard this comment before, not directed towards my child and I know it’s no harm intended, but what a truly odd thing to say. It’s not a phrase we should normalize with our children simply because it’s an inappropriate comment. If my child were to ask what flirting is I then have to explain and if a child were already to know what that means… well isn’t it just weird? I privately messaged the business with no intentions of making my experience public. In my message, I mentioned that it’s an odd thing to say and maybe in the future to reconsider what language to use with around children as “flirting” is indeed sexualizing a child. Children, especially toddlers don’t flirt. They then sent me back an inappropriate response in my opinion. Again, some may say I’m taking it too seriously but as a mother of a girl it’s best to correct the “old norm”. And to set an example for other children to speak up when an adult says something that makes them uncomfortable. I didn’t even need a response, just offering some constructive criticism, but after their unprofessional response I thought maybe it’s best to share with others.
Their response was as follows:
I am sorry that you took offence to my employees kindness. I would hope that you would reconsider the usage of your words in reference to...
Read moreWe got coneys and rolled ice cream for our first visit. The coney was good, but the rolled ice cream is obviously the focus here and it earns its stripes. It comes in two sizes, small and large, and for one person the small is really the perfect size. You can order from a menu of crafted rolled ice cream options or create your own if you desire. We ordered from the crafted menu: the Buckeye and the Coffee Lover. Both were delicious, and the consistency of the ice cream was both fun and different. The Buckeye comes with mini Buckeyes added the finished product, and the Coffee Lover is made/mixed with cold brew from Winans. It's a great place and fun experience. No matter what you get, I don't think you...
Read moreWe were visiting family. We went to the Piqua Street Fair. It was a hot day. So we were looking for a place to cool off. We were recommended to Bits & Pieces. The owner was so nice to us and the rest of the employees also. Was a nice place to cool off and enjoy the rolled ice cream. It was so good and the prices were good. They also have a program for those who might need a free meal. I was very impressed with the fact that they are helping their community also. You will not be disappointed with Bits & Pieces. They also have other items on the menu. Variety of salad choices. Hot dogs, Coney, foot long, etc. Other sandwiches, Chips, cookies. Check it out for your self!! Very...
