We recently moved to the area and have been trying out all the local spots. We knew we needed to try S&T based one the reviews.... which may be misleading... We've been here twice now. Both times there was a decent wait, and really no area to wait, and no clear direction to who was first or next. No one taking names, or numbers of guests. It seems a little disorganized. With that being said, every employee you interact with, including the person who eventually seats you, are all super kind and friendly! Very old time soda shoppe vibe, cool old milk shake blenders on the walls. Felt like you were stepping into the 50s. The seating is tight. This last time, we learned that there may be seating upstairs as well, and there is an additional room on the first floor that you wouldn't know was there unless you were seated back there or go to use the rest room. There are a few sections where the tables are in a line, and you will be sitting right next to another party, with their table attached to yours, which is where we sat the first time we visited. Then there are two or three tables right in front of the ice cream display and names. This is where we were the second visit.... It was more uncomfortable than sitting next to other guests. People, understandably so, want to come up to the ice cream display and see the different kinds, and names. This means that someone may come up right behind you, even leaning over you, to see the different ice creams. The first time we visited we both got cheese burgers, one with regular fries, and sweet potato fries for the other. Burgers were what we expected to have in a small town restaurant. The fires, both kinds were great. Unfortunately, our second visit was not good. My husband got a burger, and I asked the waitress her favorite thing and she said the Cheesesteak, and I ordered that. I don't know what they used to season the Cheesesteak, but I could not get the taste of the flavoring out of my mouth for what honestly seemed like two or three days. It had a fake odd flavor that I cannot explain. I thought I was maybe being dramatic, and didn't mention it to my husband. When my husband took a bite of mine and instantly made a face, and asked how I had ate half of it... While everyone who works there is very friendly, they seem either understaffed, or not attentive... The first visit we were next to two people on what seemed to be their first date, and they both loudly had commented how long it had been since they ordered, and when they did receive their food, the order was wrong. The second time we visited, after ordering, we didn't see our waitress again for refills until our food was delivered, then we didn't see her again. I couldn't had even inquired about the questionable cheesesteak if I wanted to. In hindsight, I should have said something when we walked up to pay, but I really dislike confrontation. After trying it twice, I do not think we will...

The food is great. The Ice cream is amazing. Some of the service could be better and the main owner could actually care less about how service is....he doesn't really seem to care. If you get his son, TJ, TJ cares about how the patrons are handled. The father does not. I brought people in from out of town to S and T's and talked about how great it was. They were not crowded. It was not the dinner rush as of yet. Only four tables had people. Took over 15 minutes to get a waitress to even say hello to us. Out drinks ran dry during dinner. My father's food arrived cold. The waitress was mad when he said it was cold. They got him new food but it took a very long time. We wanted to order their famous ice cream. We waited over 30 minutes for our waitress to return. They had five employees up all laughing and talking at the ice cream bar. We could get no one's attention. We waved at our waitress...tried to get other people. Nothing. So we finally gave up, walked up to pay our bill and were met with the father who owns it. We told him that we were sorry but after over 30 mins, we couldn't wait any longer to just order ice cream. We were told "The staff are having their dinner break. We're open til 7:30...you can just make a drive back in later for ice cream." He didn't care. He was pretty damn rude. Honestly we should have refused to pay the bill. So we left no tip cause as TJ worded it once "We pay our servers full minimum wage. They work hard for it. They don't need tips." Well, TJ they didn't work hard so you can pay them. We left no tip. And now there are two families who won't be coming back. I may on my own, but I sure wont' recommend you anymore to anyone. What a bad way to treat people. Guess you all didn't need the 50.00 extra that the dessert cost either. I mean after all....a customer shouldn't interrupt staff gossip or their eating on the clock...cause no patron should ever expect to eat dinner at a restaurant at dinner time....said no...

It is rare in today’s crazy world to have a wow experience. It takes a lot of work, it takes concern for quality, it takes a high level of standards, and it takes the one thing that is so rare to find, passion. We had the extreme pleasure of dining at such a place at S&Ts Soda Shoppe this evening. From the moment we walked in the door, we could tell the lines of people and the buzz meant that this place had to be good. Servers whizzed by us and up the stairs with heavy trays of food. Tables were quickly cleaned and sanitized. When taken to our seats, we were told about the history of the booth and felt at home immediately. We had never been to a soda shoppe, so we asked about the egg cream and were told a little about the history of the drink and the way it is made today. From reviews and recommendation by our server, we ordered the lasagna and the skirt steak. Much like everything else, they were both beyond what we could have guessed. They were good ole fashioned meals made with love that perfectly hit the spot. It is surely a rare thing to leave a place with such a great feeling, yet I seriously about wanted to kick my heals in the air with joy as we walked out. Our server was Vickie, who also happens to be one of the owners, with her sons. It was her passion and that of her husband that truly makes this place shine. I cannot wait to go back again soon. This is one place where they will remember your name, and you will remember theirs. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

DELICIOUS!! Oh my goodness let’s start with how cute and awesome the whole place is decorated, is super cool. I am from Puerto Rico so seeing country places decorated like that makes me so excited to see how things used to be. The food is AMAZING! The staff very friendly. First things first you have to try the orangeade best you will ever try. Hubby had the pimento cheese burger it was cooked perfectly(sorry totally forgot to get a picture of it). He also got a corn dog because it was on the menu and if there is a corn dog on a menu, you will just have to get it. Haha!! The corn dog’s breading was perfect crunchy on the outside and soft and sweet inside. I got the pimento grilled cheese sandwich and cheese hot dog and loved both of them. The pimento cheese is so delicious and they do not go cheap on the portion of it. The only thing that I was disappointed on were the house chips they were soggy and not warm, felt a bit stale. Next time I will make sure to get the house chips crispy and that will solve it. I can’t wait to go back and try other things. Hopefully I will not be so full next time that way I can have ice cream or apple turn over.
