Drive thru is HORRIBLE! You are instructed at the menu board to pull forward to order...well I have a suburban full of people and who can remember a menu board after you have left it (they actually have quite the menu) girl at the window says she has no idea what's on the menu to help us as we are trying to recall what we saw ...really like you don't sit here and here menu items from others ordering...like we saw some kind of burrito plate etc what's on it we ask her..uh I have no idea what you are talking about she responds and says no we cannot see a menu when we ask for a printed menu ..and no going in reverse was not an option as there was another car behind us. So tried to recall in our minds our huge order...if half the car was not elderly and hard to move I would have just gone in ...get the order placed and then we are informed to pull up so our drivers window is by the garbage can where we are forced to watch hordes of flies surrounding our car and the stench filling our car. 22min later we have our food...$5 onion ring order...
Read moreWent to Herschel's Restaurant in Pittsburg to have lunch, and could not believe the nickel and diming which led to sticker shock. One double hamburger, two chicken fried steak sandwiches (battered hamburger patty), three drinks, three fries/tator tots……$50.75. Here is how we got there. 2 CFS sandwichs – 17.98, double cheese burger 9.99. 2 Potato tots and 1 fries are $3.99 each (we got 12 tots each for $4 dollars) 11.97. 3 drinks 4.98 (only charged us for two). My wife wanted pickles with her sandwich and they charged .98 cents to put on a few sliced pickles. Add cheese to chicken fried sandwiches .98 cents each ($2.00 for two slices of American cheese). Three dollars was added to the bill for pickles and cheese. This isn’t “inflation”, this is just a policy of nickel and diming customers for a higher bottom line. We lived in Pittsburg for the last 15 years and have been going to Herschel’s all that time, but not anymore. It’s simply...
Read moreI always get the chicken tenders and fries. They are usually crunchy and cooked the right way. EXCEPT FOR TODAY! Today I came in for lunch and it was not good. The fries were almost cold and tasted like they had been sitting in a warmer for hours. The chicken had no crunch on the batter and was dry on the inside. It's usually hot and fresh, the kind you don't dare sink your teeth into until it cools off a bit. TODAY it was luke warm at best. I expected to tell someone when they came by to ask me how my meal was, but that never happened. I then expected to tell them when they came by to take my plate. My fries were clearly not touched, and when the lady that took my order passed by she just took my basket and walked off. Herschel's is too established for this type of food preparation and it was clear that half my meal wasn't touched. Sadly, no one seemed to care. I will come because when it's good, it's great. Just never...
