If I could give Petes fish market a million stars I would …. All the stars in the sky. The quality of the fish is top notch. Trust me it’s worth every penny. You get home put 10 minutes of prep and cooking into your food and it tastes like you have just been served from a five star experience off the coast of the freshest island or cape. You can truly taste the difference between large chain supermarket fish and petes fresh goodies. It’s just sooooo fresh!!!! There’s absolutely no comparison. I’ve personally never been a huge connoisseur of the sea but after coming here and trying a thing or two I haven’t been able to stop frequenting this place. Now I’m an avid fish eater lol. I recently learned that Petes fish market has been in business for 83 years and I can see why. Another thing I wanted to mention is how incredibly kind, sweet and patient Pete the owner is. Given my lack of expertise in the culinary aspect of all things fish related. Pete took the time to answer all my questions about how to cook and prepare the fish too. He knew the origin of each fish. I’ve honestly never met someone who knew this many details. They also cater for the holidays and serve fresh cooked fish AND have a ton of yummy sides. I can’t say enough good things about Pete as a person or his store. Thank you sooooo soooo much for everything and giving me and my family quality, healthy, nutrition that is truly a cut above the rest . This is the diamond of plainfields Neighborhood!!!! Pete's Fish Market consistently has the freshest fish at the best prices that I've gotten at any fish market across many neighboring towns. I live in Westfield and after having a hard time consistently finding really fresh tuna and grouper I found Pete's a few years ago. Given how fresh the fish looked I was very pleasantly surprised about the prices. I've tried fish stores in many of the neighboring towns and had asked a number of friends about where they went but Pete's is (far and away) the best. It's definitely not fancy but has become my go-to store. In addition to tuna and grouper, I've bought halibut, bass and red snapper and it's all been great. VERY disappointed. I visit frequently. Every time I get steamed crab legs and shrimp. This is NOT the first I’ve had an issue however this took the cake. Another customer walked in after me and also placed an order needed to be steamed. MY $15 order was rushed in order for the $112 order after mine to be taken care of. I took no notice of this until I went to my car realizing the bag wasn’t hot per usual. MY SEAFOOD WAS STILL COLD!!!!! let’s not mention the one time my order was OVER steamed. the one time I was given INCORRECT change back from paying for my order. I believe in 2nd chances NOT 3rd , 4ths & 5ths. They lost a CONSISTENT customer due to INCONSISTENCY....
