Handel's Homemade Ice Cream — Restaurant in Plains Township

My wife ordered an ice cream cake Monday for a Friday pickup. The person took the order and said the manager would call us if she had any questions. My wife called back Thursday afternoon and confirmed the order and was told we could pick it up anytime Friday. Well I get there Friday and there is no cake. The “manager” informed me that if she did not talk with us personally there is no order. We the customer “ can’t expect her kids to take an order and get the message to her because this is their first job”. I’ve personally never been treated with such hostility from the moment the manager came to the window to tell me there is no cake. She also said that we should know that if we didn’t talk to her there is no order. Not sure how we were supposed to know that when we were told twice the cake would be ready Friday. Handel's has the creamiest hard ice cream around. Our favorite ice cream place was closed due to a staffing shortage, so we decided to give this place a try, and we're glad we did.

The cinnamon roll and chocolate coffee chip ice creams were extremely delicious. One can have a choice between a regular or waffle cone, and even a waffle bowl!

I asked the owner if she thought it was important to protect customers by placing signs “ please wear a mask” “ keep 6 feet apart”- obviously not concerned w saftey or contamination of her paying customers told me “ that’s why America’s. a free country”. Freedom doesn’t equate to jeopardizing people’s health and clearly not following PA DOH/CDC guidelines .your a business owner in food service who doesn’t wear a mask in while working at your own business ...very ignorant and reckless ...it’s not about freedom it’s about doing the right thing in your community...
