I had won gift cards to this steak house in a raffle and decided to use them for a celebratory birthday dinner. Everyone I asked said it was very expensive but no one I spoke with lauded the food except to say that Ruth's had huge streaks. Tom and I went on a Sunday. The place was very crowded and noisy. We were greeted in a matter of fact manner and seated at a table for 2 between two large and noisy tables making dinner conversation difficult at best. I immediately ordered a hot tea as it was cool and I needed a bit of warming up. I was almost immediately presented with a boxed selection of a couple dozen choices. Too bad the lightning made it difficult to read the descriptions but I chose one and was swiftly delivered a cup ,a small pot of almost hot water, tiny pitcher of cream and a collection of all the sweetener choices possible. We ordered from the classic menu the surf and turf and added a side of brussel sprouts. Steaks were a bit over done and not juicy...the shrimp were also over cooked. The sides were luke warm and typical. I mentioned that the sides were not warm..was offered to have them reheated...declined as I didn't want to wait to start the meal. The waitress had a superior come inquire as well...end result was the cost was cancelled. There was nothing about the meal itself that was exceptional. It was good, but not exceptional. The dessert was key lime cheese cake and pecan almond bark. Both tasty but not exceptional. Also the bark had a raspberry sauce on it. I was unsure how to consume it as I could not cut it with the fork and the sauce made it messy to pick up and eat. The only outstanding moment in the meal was when I was presented with a surprise birthday dessert combo. Nicely done and a delightful surprise. Wasnt totally sure what the cream in the center was but enjoyed it as well. Missed a rendition of the staff singing but of course this wasn't your usual fun loving restaurant. As we were not impressed and knew we would not be returning, we gifted the attentive waitstaff a generous tip, the remaining balance on the cards as a Merry Christmas gesture. One other comment for the management that may read this review. My husband commented several times about the bulky coffee cup and the design being uncomfortable as the handle of the cup rests on the saucer making it a bit unwieldy to lift. Also far too bulky for a tea cup as well. It is often the little details that leave the strongest...
Read moreA Very Disappointing Experience
On a recent visit to Ruth's Chris, my family and I had an incredibly negative experience. Despite our reservation being close to their closing time, we expect professional service, especially since we frequent the chain often and have always had positive experiences.
Upon arriving a little late due to unforeseen circumstances, we were met with disdain and pressure to order immediately by our hostess, Amber. While we understand the need to wrap up, the condescending remarks and borderline racist comments were uncalled for. Suggestions like "the food court is open all night" and remarks about the inappropriate hour for "babies" were both unnecessary and unprofessional. The most alarming was her hinting at the need to call the "PPD."
My family, having traveled all the way from Miami, Florida, and staying at the adjoining hotel, were both hurt and shocked by this treatment. This experience was in stark contrast to the one at 'The Hive' next door, where the staff was gracious and accommodating even though their dinner service was technically closed.
Amber's behavior was inexcusable, cold, and unaccommodating. While we remained polite throughout the encounter, we received nothing but negativity in return. I hope management takes note and ensures that no other patrons have to endure such an unpleasant experience.
Update on Recent Visit
Upon return, I feel it's important to update our experience. Firstly, I must correct an error in my initial review; the hostess name was not Amber but Dawn (I believe). In an effort to address our dissatisfaction, we returned to Ruth's Chris today and had the opportunity to speak with the General Manager, Mark. His response to our concerns was exceptional, he is truly amazing. Mark was understanding, attentive, and took steps to rectify the situation. Our meal was delightful, and our bartender, Victoria, crafted some truly fantastic drinks. This follow-up experience has significantly improved my perception, and I'm now confident in recommending both the restaurant and the adjacent hotel to others. It's reassuring to know that there are staff members like Mark and Victoria who genuinely care about the customer experience. I’m confident in my 10/10 recommendations to come to Ruth Chris! I am changing my 1 star review to 5 stars...
Read moreMy wife and i came to Ruth's Chris Mohegan Sun for the first time on Sunday November 2021 to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. The reservation noted that we were celebrating our 45th anniversary as did the hostess as we entered. We asked for a dining room table and we're seated for a reservation for just after our reservation time but asked the staffer if we could get a drink at the bar and come back to our table as is our habit wherever we go. Problem 1 - we each had one martini at the bar , mine a caramel appltini which was great. I switched and my wife decided to have the caramel appltini. Hers was nowhere as good as my first one but was made by another bartender. The dar was not busy but we got little attention. We paid our bill and went to our assigned table . Problem 2 -our menus had been removed from the table and we had to wait over 5 minutes for anyone to ,wait on us. Service was pretty good and the steaks, osso bucco ravioli (a bit to salty which I noted to staff) and lobster bisque were excellent. We brought a poochie pouch home . Problem 3- when I get my check , I look at it a few moments and then want to pay and leave. I hate to have to wait to have someone take it as I did on Sunday. Problem 4- when we made our reservation, we were asked if this was a special occasion and we noted our 45 wedding anniversary, confirmed by the lady at the front desk. Although we heard 3 choruses of Happy Birthday to other tables in the dining room, not one of the waitstaff wished us a happy anniversary. Problem 5- as we were leaving, fancy Ruths Chris bag in hand, there were 4 female staffers at the front checkin desk and NOT ONE stopped their gabbing to say goog night or thank you. Problem 6- this was our first visit to the casino and Ruth's Chris and were were oblivious as to where to park. We had a long downhill to the building but even a more trying trec around the casino floor to get to the restaurant. My wife and I both have physical problems and would have like to have known what effort we would have to go through to get there.. All in all the food was quite good but we've eaten at better places for less than the $ 296. we spent Sunday. I might have given this 3 stars but the...
