Our family of 6, 4 children ages 10-16, drove here to visit because online the meals looked decently priced. Upon entering we found no seating to fit our family and a sign stating tables are not to be moved. Their largest table sits 4. My husband and I usually split purchasing meals as he help 2 kids & I help 2 kids order. We were quickly informed after everyone came in the door & ordered that we would have to stand in line to order our food. When my husband got to the register he was automatically charged an 18% gratuity. When he questioned why, he was quickly informed with an attitude from the cashier that we were a party of 6. I was a few people in line behind and without asking she charged me the 18% gratuity. I inquired & said so, even though we cannot sit together, we've waiting in line to order food & we have to make our own drinks, you are still charging 18% gratuity out the gate? Before I could finish my statement she said, you all together ain't you? I said yes ma'am we are, but this is not what we drove here expecting. My oldest had not ordered yet. When she did, she was also charged & the only comment was you part of that group too. All in all, a meal for 6 cost our family over $100 for what was supposed to be a simple lunch for us while traveling. We recieved no more service at our 2 seperate tables than anyone else in the cafe. While we do believe in tipping fairly & generously, I felt very insulted & taken advantage of being forced to pay gratuity to serve ourselves & not even enjoy our meal together. I do thank the kitchen staff for preparing a good lunch...
Read moreStood in line. Menu on wall clear as day. Got up to register was asked in or take out I say in. He said their only doing take out orders first (weird) should go in order. Then I order and he says they don’t have that menu the big ones on the wall. Hands me a paper says, you didn’t see it??! No I didn’t see the random papers laying around. Asks me to move over. I’m like huh? I said I’m gonna go somewhere else. He proceeds to say “there isn’t anywhere else” sir that’s not how you earn business and the ONLY reason you’re in business is because there isn’t anything else around. Gladly I’ll drive back to albany or Americus. The way they run things makes no sense to do only take out orders first, and not to have a hostess to guide tourists?? Why have a gigantic 3 poster menu on the wall. And then random pieces of menu all over the place with no guidance? Then be rude and ask me to move over and tell me no where else in town has food? Get off...
Read moreLimited choices for food in Plains, but we took a chance. It was mid week and we went around 6 pm. We were the only ones in the place. Order at the counter and have a seat, then they bring your food. My daughter had chicken fingers and fries, my husband had BBQ and tater tots. Both came with coleslaw. I ordered a hamburgers and fries. My burger was one of the best I’ve ever had! It was big and had the freshest bun. They don’t skimp on the portions here. Prices are average. We spent about $30 on dinner.Another couple came in and they told stories about President Carter and visiting with him. After we left we saw lots of folks coming for dinner. Apparently they eat later here! You can drive to Americus for more options, but if Buffalo is open, I would recommend you stay on...
