The experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The food was outstanding, offering a unique menu that exceeded our collective expectations. The ambiance was perfect, creating a unique and enjoyable atmosphere. What truly sets this establishment apart is the evident sense of pride and love that the owner, Mike, and his manager, Craig, have for what they do.

Not only did we enjoy a memorable dinner, but we also had the privilege of hosting a private event at Corner Wines, an experience that surpassed all expectations. The team went above and beyond to ensure the success of our event, earning them a solid 10 out of 5 stars in our opinion. They were incredibly kind to our guests, displaying a level of generosity and attentiveness that is truly rare and extremely commendable.

One remarkable aspect of our private event was the flexibility to bring in a musician, adding an extra layer of entertainment to the festivities. The beautiful space, combined with the genuine hospitality of the Corner Wines team, made our event a standout success.

A Taste of Italy

If you've been to Italy at some point and are missing the authentic flavors, the people and especially the wines this amazing place will take you back. If you've always wanted to go to Italy but have never gotten around to getting that stamp on your passport, your taste buds will thank you.

The name of this little gem in the heart of Plano Texas is called Corner Wines which wouldn't initially conjure up images of fragrant pecorino cheeses, rolling hills of grapes, homemade pasta and meatballs or wines from the hills of Argentina and Italy. I get it, I was like Corner Wines??? (With much skepticism in my voice) when I was invited the first time.

The owner Mike reminds me of a Soprano Uncle (without the mafia ties...ummmm I think???). He will welcome you to the Corner Wines family with a hug, a big roaring laugh, a meatball sandwich and of course, a delicious glass of wine.

They recently expanded to add a deli called Enzo where you can get a taste of their homemade meatballs, lasagna and marina sauce (which is delish and I don't even like marinara sauce!!!) that has chunks of fresh garlic.

Unfortunately, our visit to Corner Wines fell far short of expectations. Despite our party of six spending over $360 at the table — not including take-home wine purchases — the service was inattentive, cold, and at times borderline unwelcoming.

We had to repeatedly request basic essentials: napkins, utensils (including forks for spaghetti), water refills, and additional pours of wine we ordered by the glass. Each request was met with visible annoyance, as if we were inconveniencing the staff rather than receiving the attentive service expected at any wine bar.

Adding to the discomfort, one member of our party — who doesn’t drink wine — was offered only Coors Light as the beer option. Another, a designated driver who doesn’t drink, was asked if she was pregnant when she declined alcohol. While we understand this is a wine-focused venue, it’s not unreasonable to expect a modest beer selection and respectful treatment of non-drinkers.

The wine itself was enjoyable, but the atmosphere was awkward and the staff’s demeanor made us feel like an imposition rather than valued guests. With so many excellent wine bars in the area that prioritize service and hospitality, we’ll be choosing those...
