Wow, I have to say I am not surprised often by a restaurant, but they did it here! We had looked into going to another pizza place but the wait was too long on open table. We live in Rockwall, about 30 minutes away and wanting good Pizza. So, we jumped in the car, made a reservation over the phone and away we went
When we arrived we were impressed with the layout, the mood, and the all around atmosphere of the location. We were seated fairly quickly and had a server named Dillon that sat us.
There was live music, that played some great music and I could not help myself and found myself belting out a few lines on occasion.
They have a great selection of beer and spirits and I had an Old Fashioned made with Buffalo Trace. Dillon recommended I try out one of his favorites, and it was sweater than my old fashioned and left a syrup feeling on my lips. Not my cup of tea but still not terrible.
The pizza was fantastic, like, next level good. We ordered the smoke house BBQ pizza and the Pinky Pig. Have to say, both were something that I will be ordering again. We started with the cheese bread, it wasn't anything special really, just some french bread with melted cheese and we opted to have the salmi adde for $2 more. Good, but not worth the $10, would have rather paid an extra couple bucks for anther pie. We had a salad, but I forgot the name.
We will be back for sure. The pricing is in the neighborhood of 15% higher than it should be for everything across the board from drinks to pies. Many places are not taking into account that when you charge these rates, when a customer comes in, we know we need need to add at least 30% to account for the tax and tip. I would have had a 3rd drink, but at $11 for an Old fashion ($15+ after tax and tip) I decided to pour myself one at home that cost me $3 with a better bourbon. Stand alone with better parking and a more upscale atmosphere could justify the pricing in my eyes. I will be back, but when our bill was $150 for 2 pies, a burger, 4 drinks, appetizer and shared salad I was in a bit disbelief...
Read moreWent here as a low key anniversary dinner. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was curious about the brisket lasagna. It's got a relaxed atmosphere and the staff was really warm. Several people who delivered food or drinks to our table congratulated us on our anniversary. The beer menu had a pretty good variety with some local representation, Peticolas, Revolver, and a few others. To celebrate, though, I went for their whiskey cocktail, the speakeasy. It uses Whistlepig 10yr and is roughly a take on an old fashioned. It was smooth and delicious, but it hit me like a truck, so why did I order a second one? Loose inhibitions... Food wise we got their soft pretzel appetizer. It was warm and soft. What you'd expect. Very tasty and I felt that they may have made the dough in house. It comes with a deli mustard for dipping. Tasted great either way. For entrees we got the aforementioned brisket lasagna and a pizza called the bee's knees. The lasagna. I thought this was either going to be terrible or amazing. It could go either way, and luckily it went amazing. It's certainly an odd texture for lasagna, but the flavor cannot be denied. It's a cheesy meaty goodness brought to you by Texas meat and beer settling down with a nice Italian. The pizza was quite good as well. A sweet and spicy dish using honey and spicy soppressata, if I remember right. A couple other pizza places have something like this, Canne Rosso has the honey bastard and Cadillac pizza in McKinney has one also called the bee's knees. It's close in flavor, but I would go for one of the other's mentioned if I'm craving that particular kind of pizza. Still, it's good. Don't get me wrong. I'm just nitpicking with pizzas this good. This is one of the few places I liked everything I ordered, and I'll definitely be coming back. Hopefully before my next...
Read moreWe came in Saturday night and had a great dinner! They had live music and it was an acoustic set... not too loud and it made the dinner even better.
We sat at a table near the bar with Mike as our server. He did a great job of suggesting appetizers, pizzas, and dessert. I really appreciated that he timed when the food would come out so we weren't getting everything at once. We felt perfectly taken care of and in no way rushed or neglected.
The buffalo shrimp was our appetizer. SO tasty! They drizzled ranch on top and even though I hate ranch, the way it was plated made it more of a creamy buffalo. We've had the cheesy bread before and LOVE it but I wasn't in the mood for extra carbs. If you come here, these two appetizers are a must!
For pizza, we ordered the Bees Knees. I love goat cheese so I added that to my half. This pizza is perfectly sweet and savory. It was my favorite pizza until we tried the Pink Piggy. I'm normally not a "meat lovers" fan but this pizza was SO GOOD. It has a creamy sauce base topped with a honey butter which I think made the pizza so different than anything I've ever tried before. I'm ordering this one again next time but adding jalapenos to give it an extra kick.
If you visit and don't get the cookie & Henry's cinnamon ice cream for dessert, you are missing out. Just get it. Trust me.
Our dinner here was the best dinner we have had in awhile. Tbh I was already thinking of when we can come back before we even left.
My husband and I agreed that this is the best pizza in Dallas. And with how much he loves pizza... this is a huge compliment. Definitely give this...
