This is my very first impression of the restaurant while visiting when I visited with friends a month or two ago. When I first arrived at the restaurant, it seemed nothing out of the ordinary. The ONLY thing I noticed that was odd at first was the "We Only Accept Cash; No Credit Cards" on the door, but I didn't think much of it. When we entered and sat at our tables, the employees were friendly as expected and while the food took a decent amount of time to be ready, when we got the food it was actually pretty nice. It may not have been the best of the best, but the food was good. The only thing we didn't really like was the water, but it wasn't a big deal. Everything seemed fine and all were going well, that is until it came to the payment...
While the staff seemed nice during the whole ordeal, when it came to payment they showed their true colors. I decided to pay for myself and my friends and paid the bill that totaled up in cash as they requested and posted on the door. When we were about to leave, they were rudely telling us something and told us to stop because we forgot to pay the tip. I don't go out much so I completely forgot and normally I would be ok with paying it out, BUT they were so RUDE about it. They were basically FORCING us to pay a tip as if it's part of the final price.
Tips should not be a FORCED thing, it should be given based on the personal experience of the customer. If they did great, then they can CHOOSE to give a tip a high tip. If they found it bad and not up to their standards, they can CHOOSE to NOT give a tip. In my situation, I completely forgot as I haven't gone out much and that's my fault, but to rudely DEMAND a tip from me is a no go. Apparently this also isn't their first time doing so either after what I've heard in person and from reading other reviews here. Not only that, they didn't even allow me to CHOOSE how much tip I wanted to give; they just took an amount they decided themselves to add on top of that while also having to pay in physical cash for it as well.
Now the thing here is that if I had forgotten and they requested nicely if I wanted to give a tip or not or if they had mentioned it at the start as I was paying, then sure I think I would've kindly given them one. But the difference is they were so RUDE about it. I will say again, tips are NOT a must do thing. That's the choice of the customer and you should really reconsider the given attitude when it comes to it.
The food was good though, so if you want to try the restaurant then there is nothing against it. I just personally do not and will not recommend this to anyone I know after my end experience there and will not go there again. I just hope they will change their attitude when it comes to payment and ALSO add more payment options rather than only accepting physical cash. I'm giving them 2 stars only because of the food;...
Read moreI always hear good reviews about First Chinese BBQ and decided to give it a try. First thing you noticed is they only take cash, so make sure you have enough to cover your meal!
If you’re dining in, then make sure to let the workers know. It was confusing because we were planning to dine-in, but the cashier was at the end row where you come in so I thought we were supposed to order first. We got a combo 301 and 308, and I guess they assumed that we wanted take-outs. The lady was speaking Chinese to my boyfriend but I didn’t understand her, and when I was walking to sit, they yelled and moved me. It took me a couple seconds to understand that it was the take-out waiting area, but I did feel a little uncomfortable.
The food only took 5 mins to prepare, since they already have the meats ready and in display. I asked if we can dine-in, and they looked annoyed then proceed to open a menu pointing at the price difference. Apparently, it costs $5 extra if you want to dine-in, so I guess we dodged a bullet there. Food was okay, it didn’t taste like anything amazing. I got char siu, chicken and roast duck combo. It came with so much rice, but meats were limited. The char siu was pretty plain, I like the one I get at 99 Ranch food court much more. The chicken wasn’t good, but their roast duck was nice & juicy. My stomach started hurting a couple hours after so I threw the rest of my food away. I have a pretty strong stomach, but for some reason, it didn’t agree with the meats here.
Overall, I wouldn’t give this location another chance. The food wasn’t good, and service was bad. I did not like how I was treated and the attitudes these workers gave me when I had questions because it was my first time. I’ll try the Garland location next time, maybe that was the one...
Read moreWe went to FC-BBQ in Richardson main/greenville location way back when. This is one of the 'authentic' Cantonese restaurant there is. The thing about Chinese food is that China is a large country, hence the cuisine is as diversified as well. In other words, you have to order the Cantonese specialty, and you have to know what to expect. Otherwise, you can get 'unlucky' and think this is no better than the usual Chinese buffet. Well, it is not the same beast. So ..
Seafood usually is good, again, watch out what you expect. The way Chinese eat fish, for example, is not going to be what you expect if you are Texan. BBQ is tasty, but prepare to remove fat from meat yourself. Noodle portion is going to be small, and it is a angel-hair type. They will use traditional style to prepare food, so if you are healthy food up-teem, maybe you want to be careful what you order, and notch your expectation down accordingly.
What 'I' like?
House crispy noodle, any fried rice (maybe not any, but I know young chow/beef/barbecue pork/chicken are good AND salt fish&chicken - my kids dig it, that wasn't what I expected), pork/duck/chicken BBQ, combination hotpot, orange beef, fried tofu with pork in home style. And there are many more ..
Actually their good dish to bad (or just been average) proportion is pretty high. So my preference is just that, 'my own' usual dance. You shouldn't be doing too bad after figuring out what you really like.
I find this place pretty 'authentic' as far as...
