We've been coming to Kainan for years and it's always been our favorite Filipino restaurant for the value and the flavors. The old couple that used to be there were always so friendly and helpful when ordering. They sold the restaurant last year to a younger couple who modernized the restaurant while keeping some of the same flavors. However, we were surprised to see new ownership on our most recent visit. We decided to give it a shot and had a pretty disappointing experience. We came at 5:30pm and pretty much all the food was sold out already. We usually get pork adobo, beef caldereta, chayote, lumpia Shanghai, and pinakbet but they either were sold out or didn't offer any of it. More than half the items they had were sold out which is pretty bad. How does a Filipino restaurant run out of pork adobo! With that said we still ordered food hoping for the best but it wasn't up to previous standards. The tocino only had a few pieces of meat and the garlic rice was very mushy with no garlic flavor at all. The lechon kawali seemed fresh but the fried skin had a mushy texture. Pork sinigang wasn't bad but seemed to be missing some depth to the soup. They wouldn't let us order the sinigang as an entree combo item, which we've always done, so we had to order a whole big bowl of it. The guy explaining things also didn't have the best attitude and seemed flustered while prepping the rice and food to send out. Food took a long time to come out as well. Plus, they have this weird air freshener blowing some strong incense smell that was pretty overpowering. Just overall disappointed with the changes and overall vibe of the restaurant and probably won't come back for the unforeseeable future.

If you're looking for a place that brings you back to the heart of the Philippines, Kainan Sa Laguna is the spot! This family-owned gem serves up authentic, home-cooked Filipino dishes that hit the soul with every bite. From the savory, perfectly seasoned Adobo and Kare-Kare to the crispy Lechon Kawali, every dish is a reminder of mom’s cooking back home. And let’s talk about desserts—oh my goodness! The Halo-Halo, Leche Flan, and Ube treats are absolutely to die for. The Sapin Sapin has real jack fruit! They don’t just serve food here; they serve memories, traditions, and the warmth of Filipino hospitality. The atmosphere? Perfect for family gatherings, networking events, group lunches/dinners, or just a casual meal with friends. Plus, if you love Karaoke (and who doesn’t?!), just bring the mic, and let’s turn the night into a full-blown Pinoy party! 🎤🎶 If you haven’t been to Kainan Sa Laguna, you’re missing out on one of the best Filipino dining experiences around. Highly recommend—five stars all the way! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I've been going to Kainan sa Laguna for years, and it never disappoints. They have new owners. Their BBQ is my absolute favorite—it has a perfectly balanced marinade that brings out the right savory flavors, just like back home. The meat is tender, making every bite satisfying. The lechon is another standout—flavorful, crispy, and absolutely delicious. I also love their sisig! I had it to-go last time, but I can’t wait to try it dine-in so I can enjoy it sizzling hot on a plate. Their menu is packed with classic Filipino favorites, including tocilog, tapsilog, dinuguan, adobo, pinakbet, kare-kare, and tinola. I haven’t tried them all yet, but can't wait to. For dessert, my daughter’s favorite is their puto—soft and good. They also offer a variety of traditional Filipino sweets that are worth checking out. If you’re craving authentic Filipino food, Kainan is a must-visit. Whether you're in the mood for comforting home-cooked meals or delicious grilled dishes, this place delivers.

I was really craving lechon kawali, so I phoned in to place an order for pick-up. When I arrived, I was surprised to see two young kids one at the cashier and a smaller boy near the food area. I told them I came to pick up my order, but they seemed unsure and asked for my name. It appeared my order wasn’t properly recorded.

Thankfully, the senior owner came out and recognized that I had called earlier. He then went to the kitchen, and when the chef came out, I asked if the food was ready. He replied, “Oh, I’m just going to cut it now.” Unfortunately, what followed was the worst lechon kawali I’ve ever had. • It was almost all fat, with barely any actual meat. • The skin was chewy, not crispy at all. • The pork belly was sitting in about 1/4 inch of oil in the container. • The small portion of meat I could find was dry and overcooked, likely from being toasted or reheated in a rush. Honestly, I felt it was cooked in haste with no care for quality. For the price, I expected much better, it was a total letdown and was a waste of money. I really wish I had taken a photo to show just how poorly it was prepared. Will not come back to...

worst customer service EVER!! apparently, the lady over the phone stopped hearing my voice after i greeted her and asked if i could call-in an order! answered me with something unintelligible and then rudely hung up the phone. called again, to which i got a very loud “HELLO?? HELLO?????”. i’m not dumb - i know you can hear me, as i use my phone to take calls EVERY DAY for work!! it would be very, very convenient if my phone just stopped working all of a sudden! after a handful more times, her husband picks up the phone! cool! he can hear me perfectly! i asked if i could place an order with him, pick up at 620-630p. google says they close at 7. he says they’ll be closed by then because they have to do groceries. why couldn’t your wife had just said so instead of blatantly ignoring me despite having heard me the first time around?? i’ve been trying to find a good filipino joint ever since my favorite one closed down last year, and am thoroughly disappointed with the way that i was treated and the way that this was handled. sayang jud - i was hoping to try...
