Have been eating at El Pueblito for several years, and the food is almost always very good. My less than 5 star review is because we order a lot of takeout for home, and they use styrofoam containers for the food. Styrofoam is extremely unhealthy for your body and for the environment. I wish they would switch to the cardboard containers - even if just an option for people who want a healthier container to eat their food out of. I would be willing to pay a bit more for a container that doesn’t leech chemicals into your hot food and is ultimately better for the environment. I also wish they would ask if you need plasticware - I am frustrated with myself every time I get home because I have 4 or 5 packages of plasticware I don’t need or use! More environmental waste in the form of plastic! Hey, here’s a suggestion: start asking customers if they need plasticware or not, and I bet the money they save on not giving out unnecessary plasticware to everyone would allow them to divert that saved money to a higher quality, less toxic cardboard container! Other than that, their food is good but not 5 star worthy. I also experienced a surprising bit of unprofessionalism when I went to pick up and pay for my food one time; the matriarch that works there got a phone call on her personal cell phone while she was checking me out, but instead of ignoring it and calling back, she took the call, stopped helping me and stood there and talked to whoever called for a minute or two which is a long time when you’re in the middle of a transaction like that. She spoke in Spanish so I don’t know what was said, but it certainly didn’t sound urgent or necessary at all. Just a leisurely conversation break with someone. I reduced her tip from the normal $10 to $5. She didn’t even look at me and say “excuse me” when she stopped helping me and started chatting on her...
Read moreThe fajita nachos were good my first time but they racist in here fasho. When I walked in there were like 5 people at the counter and one guy kept looking back and forth at me but with all the wierd stare downs, nobody spoke to me or offered to take my order. This caused me to feel very uncomfortable and on guard. When I got to the counter, There was this short old lady that proceeded to take my order after wanting to pretend she didn’t see me. From the minute she opened her mouth she was nasty. Made it obvious she really didn’t wanna take my order. While I waited for my order two of the guy workers sat at the counter with their mouths covered talking to each other just staring at me when I turned my head and looking away when I turned to faced them. They didn’t know I could see them in the reflection of the window. When my order was done I went to pay for the food. As Im signing the receipts she wants to now “play nice” and ask if I need spicy salsa. I realized she was hoping for a tip. When I responded to her and said no I proceeded to hand her the receipt. I proceeded ti walk out the door and the old Spanish/mexican lady when I didn’t she mumbled something in Spanish. I was already walking out the door so I just laughed as the door closed. But the way she turned and scrambled to the back of that building let me know stating any longer would’ve been a waste of my time. Safe to say I won’t be back. I would say to the people that look like me it might do you good to look elsewhere for your Mexican cravings. These folks off in here did not want to serve me at all lols. No stars for service and...
Read moreJenny was our server and even though they were extremely crowded, we didn’t have a wait and we were treated with excellent service.
The sangria was superb. Either I was in the mood for it more than normal or it was better than usual. I don’t know which but I know that it was enjoyed thoroughly.
It could be that’s why this review is so good. It could be this is a sangria fueled review.
I don’t know but, moving on to the queso, which was the perfect compliment to warm fresh chips. Delicious!
I have no idea what I ordered but it was yummy. Again, I think the sangria might be controlling the review. I pointed to a picture on the lower right, and Jenny said that it was on the next page toward the bottom. I looked it up. It is on the specialty menu called a steak picado. Chopped beef steak, cooked with tomatoes, onions, fresh jalapeños. Served with tortillas, rice and vegetarian refried beans.
Wife had single fajitas mixed beef & chicken. While not as tender beef as in previous visits, everything was definitely fresh & flavorful.
We did not try the flan which is made on premise. That’s for next time. Waddled out to the car. Happy like everyone around us.
Did not take pictures this time. Should have. Next time pictures first. We’ll be...
