We were down the street at a sporting event and google'd restaurants in our area. The Rusty Taco is the only place that came up, so we decided to give it a try. Only go here if you want to be totally disrespected by an older guy wearing a superman shirt who could care less about your repeat business.
I lived in the DFW area for over 40 years and I must admit, The Rusty Taco in Plano provided one of the flat out worst experiences I've ever had in the metroplex to date eating out. I don't say this lightly. I have never seen such utter disrespect to a paying customer and the customer's entire party in which kids were involved with by an elder staff member who definitely knew better, but didn't care. It was deplorable.
I have never taken the time to post something about a restaurant or anything for that matter online. However, this was such a horrendous experience I wanted to make sure nobody else gets treated as poorly as we did.
I was in the service industry for over 10 years and have a lot of respect for the hard working people in the industry. There is no place for flat out disrespect toward the customer or his party by any staff member, much less the MOD or owner. This guy obviously doesn't realize we live in Texas and there are 100's of places where hungry people can buy Tacos to eat. It's not rocket science! If you treat your customer's like crap they are not going to come back and spend their hard earned money with you.
On a scale from 1 - 10 scale regarding customer service and a friendly family atmosphere we'd like to visit again, The Rusty Taco in Plano gets a negative 1 in my book. The older guy in the superman shirt should be ashamed of the way he acted, but he's probably too proud. I can all but guarantee he has done the same thing to other people, so I encourage anyone else who has had a similar experience with this guy to post...
Read moreYall I love this place. My friend and I meet up here for tacos and talking 3-5 times a month. The unassuming environment is cozy and the tacos literally increase my happiness level at least 73 points every time. They recently updated their menu and Iâm a creature of habit so I wasnât exactly excited for the change. But all my old favorite tacos are still on the menu plus there are some new ones. Owner recommended I try the new fried cauliflower taco. Iâm a meat eating gal but I gave it a shot and I have to say I loved it. Great subtle flavors. Throw a little extra lime or a touch of green salsa on it and đđ€âdelish! (And you can even feel kinda good about yourself for getting your veggies in with your tacos like you did something morally good while enjoying an amazing taco.)
If youâre looking for more recommendations, my favorite standbys include: the Baja shrimp (on corn, and I top with some lime, red salsa, and green salsa) The pork with pickled red onions and cojito cheese (on corn, top with green salsa) The brisket taco (on flour, sub out the raw onions for grilled onions, top with green salsa) Breakfast taco with egg, chorizo, cheese, add potato (on flour, top with red salsa) I should add, my 16-yr-old son is also obsessed with the chicken fajita taco.
Also they have the BEST red salsa. I could drink it. I have to order chips and salsa every time I come, even if Iâm eating solo.
Bonus for cool t-shirts.
If you havenât been here, go. If youâve been but not recently, go check out some of their new tacos....
Read moreI will visit this one of two remaining Rusty locations when nearby as the one in Murphy sadly closed too soon. Today was an all time low as I ordered my usual 3 tacos all on flour tortillas and no onions with Chips and salsa. First, 2 of the 3 tacos were on corn instead of flour and one included onions. Second, the bags of chips and salsa were not included. As I mentioned this to the owner he then went to the register to pull my transaction to verify if I was charged rather than believing an honest customers word. He then stated he could fix this and charge me now for the chips, which I refused to have another charge on my card as I needed to leave to get back to work. Now I will also make note of the blonde woman whoâs order in front of me and coincidentally her order was incomplete also. The owners greeting to her was âhey gorgeous how are you today?â When she informed him of her missing item, his response was completely different and took her word as face value, didnât insult her by looking up her transaction and provided her with the stated missing item. I am offended and saddened by this overall experience while businessâs are challenged during this pandemic and even customers arenât treated equally, even by the owner. Learning experience for sure and hoping he learns...
