I had spinach and mushroom omelet with hashed brown this morning. Neither was flavored, and I normally prefer bland food - so this was definitely "not seasoned." I thought perhaps the cook was busy and forgot to add seasonings, so I asked a waitress, and she told me we don't season your food - condiments are on the table. I find that unbelievable! What restaurant doesn't season their cooking??? If I want to season my food, why wouldn't I just cook at home? So I gave them the benefit that maybe I misunderstood and reached out to their FB site and got an unbelievably rude response. BTW, I expressed my disappointment in the written response but got no clarification that that person was merely agreeing with me and not telling me to stay away - so I have every reason to believe what was said was what it sounded like - "we don't want your business.
From "Sunshine" Cafe: "Yes you got that right . We don’t season potatoes or eggs , because some people can’t have salt. Yes I think is better if you stay home and cook for...
Read moreTerrific local business tucked away in the Oak Park Shopping Center. The food tastes fantastic, comes in generous portion sizes, and all for a great price. The service is quick and the staff are some of the nicest people out there. This is the perfect place to come for some old fashioned comfort food and is probably my favorite breakfast place in the area.
Most recently, a friend and I had a late breakfast here and a second buddy of ours met up with us a bit after we'd already ordered. The staff were really accommodating and worked hard to get his food out quick so we wouldn't have to wait around for him. Even though it was a small thing, it goes to show that they value the experience of their customers-we really appreciated it!
The only problem here is that it's cash only-I'd love to see them start accepting...
Read moreNice staff and good atmosphere, but the food is lacking. The eggs aren't fresh and sit in a large bottle next to the grill which is squirted out to make your food. The hash browns are, in classic hole-in-the-wall fashion, given what I call the "1 flip is good enough treatment", they're spongy and tasteless. The "butter" used for the toast is orange and tastes like canola oil. I left wondering what I had just put into my body. It sounds harsh, but I hope is taken constructively; I wanted to like the place. But, $10 for a breakfast and you're not even serving fresh eggs or real butter to customers? Seems a little disrespectful if you ask me. Take some pride, ya'll...
