I'm not a huge fan of Starbucks. I don't dislike the chain, I'm just not a huge coffee drinker either and would rather go to a more local cafe given the option. I hadn't, however, visited this Starbucks on Middle Road ever, even though I live literally two blocks from the location. After a quiet Friday meal out near the TBK Bank Sports Complex, I decided to stop in for a quick after dinner treat.
There's not much to really say about this particular Starbucks that can't be said about other franchise locations - the space is open, clean, and offers the same food and drink options as any other Starbucks. In keeping with other modern architectural trends, there is no drop ceiling, leaving the wood supports, conduit, and HVAC ductwork exposed. As with other reviews I've written, this isn't a criticism. Between the extra space in the overhead and the soft accent lighting throughout, the dining area was quite cozy.
For this visit, I opted to get a hot chocolate and package of dark chocolate covered grahams. The hot chocolate was ready within an expected period of time and I soon took a seat in one of the yellow faux leather chairs in the corner of the space.
If you've had Starbucks hot chocolate, you know there's not much more for me to say about it here. It was hot chocolate with a little cream and chocolate syrup on top, the drink itself likely prepared from a powdered mix. Nothing bad about that - I bought a big container of Starbucks hot cocoa mix at Costco last year and routinely enjoy it at home.
Two further things of mention about this space, one positive and the other just a little weird. On the positive side, two of the walls for the cafe space are almost entirely made up of windows. I imagine this would be quite nice during the light hours and summer months. The weird thing I find worth mentioning is also related to these windows, however. As I was glancing about the space, I noticed that along the windowed walls that many of the 120 VAC outlets are located about 10 feet from the ground above the windows. Nothing really wrong with this, but I wouldn't plan on coming back to do any work on my laptop here as there were only two outlets available at ground level.
To conclude a review that is going a bit long, I can confidently say this is a Starbucks and my experience during this visit tracks with past experiences at other Starbucks locations. Don't overthink this review or others on Google - it is a Starbucks. It is clean, they serve the beverages quickly, and it is a nice...
Read moreThe girl at the window was super nice but I got the wrong drink and now I'm stuck at work with someone elses drink that tastes like garbage. Also your number is disconnected and I am not able to call to let someone know I have the wrong thing. 🙃 I worked at Starbuck's a long time and I get mistakes happen but I had to clock out at work and come back to sit here and wait for 10-15 min for the correct one while not getting paid all for something that should have been right the first time. I wasn't offered a recovery card either. Y'all apparently don't think its a big deal I'm not getting paid for part of my day as if I'm not also a millenial who's struggling?...
Read moreWhile I'm not a Starbucks frequented due to the fact that I don't like the way they roast their coffee. It's over roasted in my opinion and I buy my beans from other sources where I can buy high quality medium/light roasted beans. But I digress. We as a family like their mixed iced tea drinks so we buy those and we get the coffee grounds. This Starbucks bags them up, all espresso picks BTW, and puts them out for people to take. Like I thought all Starbucks do, which isn't the case. They were very happy when we came in to get some. I live in Davenport, but I'll drive over here instead of going to the rude Starbucks...
